Good cooker
It is a little bit smaller than I thought. Anyway, I have been using it for quite a while. So far so good. No problem. I highly recommend it. It is not easy to clean if you don't know how to cook. After cooking, switch it off and leave it cool for a while, then the rice won't be too sticky to the cooker. Don't keep it in warm state or the rice will stick to cooker. To wash it, you have to soak it with water for a little while before you clean it. Don't use metallic brush to clean it else you will damage it.

Exactly what I was looking for
I have used this 2-3 times each week to make rice, white and brown rice so far. Based on reviews, I put a little olive oil on the bottom before adding the liquid and rice. Cooks perfect rice every time. Although there is no bell or chime that dings when the cook time is over, there is a distinct Thunk as the function changes from cook to warm. I always unplug it immediately after that thunk and allow it to sit for 5 minutes, as recommended in the manual. Cleanup is easy with warm soapy water that loosens any bits that cling to bottom.Stainless steel is non-toxic and this is also a beautiful design.Highly recommend.

LOVE IT!!! GOOD CHOICE!!!!
I agonized over what should be a simple purchase. I had my last rice cooker for 10 years, but I wanted stainless, so that limited my choices. Then there was price. I make rice and quinoa maybe once a week, so how much is too much for a rice cooker?! This is the perfect compromise. Good reviews, not huge in size, so not a storage hassle. It doesn't have the timer and delayed start that my last one had, but I never used those features anyway. I have NO trouble with water splashing out through the steam hole, but I rarely make more than 2 cups of uncooked rice or quinoa. I had to add more water to brown rice the first time that I used it, but I just added a little more water and turned it back on. I recommend spraying the bottom with cooking spray, and not letting residual rice and starch dry on it- so do yourself a favor and put some water in it while you're eating, but honestly, cleanup has been a scrub-free snap!

This is a product review not a review of how well I can cook rice.
This product was packaged well to prevent damage while shipping, it arrived undamaged and sealed in the package from the factory. The instructions are basic covering the operation of the unit. The instruction book is NOT a cook book. Overall the construction is designed for homeowner use and not heavy for commercial use. The cooking vessel is thin but reinforced on the bottom (thicker) most likely to help with even heating. The cord is generous, almost 40 inches long (4 times the length of my toaster cord). After washing the unit I followed the directions on a package of rice for the proper ratio of rice to water and used the provided proportioning cup. The unit operates as it should, cooking the rice steaming a pile of asparagus and automatically switching to a warming cycle (approximately 20 minutes) when the cooking cycle was complete. I would have liked the stainless steel to be a bit thicker but I'm not trying to cook rice commercially. As with any skill related task basing a review on the quality of the product produced with the tool is pointless. There are no magic wands in the kitchen but this product does make cooking rice a little easier for me with the added bonus of a steamer basket.

Good rice cooker without the toxic nonstick inner pot.
Liked that this rice cooker uses a stainless steel inner pot instead of the usual unhealthy nonstick aluminum inner pot that eventually looses its coating into your rice. I just unplug the cooker within 15-30 mins. once the rice is done so that the rice doesn’t harden on the bottom and sides of the pot making it easier to clean. Soaking the pot overnight can help immensely too. I haven’t encountered any problems with this rice cooker, it works like a regular rice cooker. It comes with a stainless steel steamer tray which I use to steam potatoes, veggies, fish, and tofu awhile the rice is cooking. I’m happy with my purchase because this is an alternative to eating rice with toxic materials leaching from the nonstick pots. Been using it for about 6 months, no issues with it.

Burnt up after 3 months. Can't reach customer service.
It was working fine for 3 months, then one day it just burnt up. I smelled some electrical burn 5 minutes after I started it. So I turned it off immediately, waited for it to cool down. I checked that there was no water in the outer pot. I tried plugging it back but couldn't get it to work at all. I am Asian and I know how to use rice cookers. I only used it for making rice, nothing else.Ok, I might got a defect one but the customer service is not good either. This is obviously still under warranty. I emailed Oyama customer service using the email address I found on their website. It has been over a week and there is no response from them at all. I am very disappointed. I read the good reviews on Amazon and made the decision to spend a little more on which appeared to be a decent product. I am now using our old rice cooker that we paid half the price and has been working for years.Update: Impossible to reach the manufacturer. I called all the numbers I could find on their website, non of them worked.

So far so good.
I have always wanted to get away from our aluminum cooker because it's so obviously a source of brain killing toxins. This works well, and my greatest fear is quelled as it hasn't been hard to clean. The hole in the lid for steam to escape is just a little larger than it might have been. It causes the steam to really spatter the countertop around the cooker, which is why I didn't give it a full 5 stars. The rim of the pot should have been just 1/8" deeper to keep water from sputtering out from under the lid all the way around. But the rice is great! And it's toxin free!
