Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove

Wonderful movie. As other people have mentioned, and I agree with, Bindi Irwin is an excellent actress for her age. She's very believable and realistic. It's neat how she played the role in this new version years after the original Free Willy movies. I bought this movie not only because I love whales and dolphins, but because my 3 neices also do, and because the character is a girl who can relate to them. They all loved it. Movie was well made, however the baby orca was not a real orca. It was a mechanical robot. Some scenes you can really tell it is fake and was poorly done. When they showed its pod above the water some scenes might have been real footage of real orcas-like in the very start of the film. When shown underwater all those scenes were computerized images. This is why I gave it 4 stars. The story and acting was great though. I still recommend it to anyone who loves whales or dolphins or sea life and like me and my neices feel that these animals don't belong in tanks or for entertainment purposes, but deserve to be free. Free as they are born to live naturally in the open sea. I think maybe that's why they didn't use a real whale. It would destroy the whole meaning of the story in the first place. Then it would be ok to use a robotic whale.

I thought this movie was great!! I think Bindi really is a very talented actress. I can't believe it was her first movie. She wasn't perfect but she was good. This movie is definitely worth seeing. I think the whole family will love this movie. I think it is more low budget compared to the other Free Willy's but it is still a good Free Willy movie that everyone should love. I loved the low price I payed for it too. Less than $8 is a really good price. The special features were ok. Not anything really great. Bindi seems like she really does love animals and had fun making this movie. Everyone else in the movie did a pretty good job too. I think I highly recommend people to see this movie if they liked the original Free Willy.

I bought it becase it look like a good famiy movie. Was fun and sneaky.

Family friendly movie

I ordered this DVD as soon as I saw the commercial for it because our five year old son loves whales and also likes the show "Bindi the Jungle Girl".It arrived today and we watched it tonight--my son LOVES IT!! Grandma and I also enjoyed it! As another reviewer said it's a great family movie. Even though it's predictable (most kid's movies are), it's well done and suitable for a five year old and was also enjoyed by the adults.The South African setting was beautiful and the music was nice too. Highly recommend this movie!

Great family movie

How can you call this a 5th Free Willy movie without Jesse or the actual whale??Or another real Killer Whale.Come on...this is very poorly done this film, its dreadful.I thought Free Willy 3 was a let down at the time, looking back its a great film...This is terrible, come back Jesse for a 4th actual film hopefully someone who ever they are can come up with a decent script.

I have wanted to see this film for ages as I have watched the others, this is different as doesn`t have any of the original cast in it.I had read a mixture of reviews prior to watching so wasn`t expecting it to be great but actually I really enjoyed.Bindi Irwin is a great actress and has a lot going for her, she responds well to the orca.

THIS WAS A LOVELY FEEL GOOD FILM,BINDI WAS A LITTLE STAR SHE REALLY MADE THE FILM.SHE IS A BRILLIANT ACTRESS EVENTHOUGH THIS WAS HER FIRST FILM SHE JUST MADE THE FILM SO HEART TOUCHING AND BRIDGES WAS REAL FUN AS HER UNCLE THE STORY WAS EXCELLENT WITH LOVELY HEARTFELT MOMENTS AND REAL FUNNY MOMENTS TOO.THIS IS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS 8YEARS AND OVER THEY WILL LOVE IT.

Me and my family have always loved watching the 'Free Willy' movie series on the TV. So when we heard a brabd new installment was coming we had to see it! It did not have the same feel as its proceeders but was a very good accomplishment to bring the series to the Modern Day. The film stars BINDI IRWIN daughter of 'The Crocodile Hunter'.It has brand new characters brand new story and is a feel good film for the WHOLE family. Definetly reccomended.
