Great for protruding drains!
I bought this for bathtime with my one year old nephew. It is a game changer. He sat on the drain once and it was a bad time, but this SAVED it haha. It seals well, it works great, and suctions to the bathtub floor. It’s super easy to use and I would buy it again. I love that the color resembles a starfish.

Great for the kids bathroom
Perfect size and looks good with all the kids bath toys. Suctions up very well and works great even with the kids playing around the tub.

Doesn’t stick
It doesn’t stick onto the tub, so once you fill the tub it just floats away.

Nice looking and surves it purpose well
I love the Boon brand since their products are so nicely designed and a bit more sheik than most baby items. I purchased this drain cover and have been using it for a few months now and still continue to love it. The previous plug we had been using for our leaky drain seems to get stained and gross looking really quickly and I've found that with regular cleaning this still looks good. It is worth noting that at first I didn't realize the recessed hard plastic part could be popped out and in for cleaning so the first time I did it is was pretty dingy in there but cleaned up easily. I am surprised that so many reviews have said this didn't work in there tub because it works perfectly for ours. We have a vintage cast iron claw foot tub with enamel on the inside, the bottom of the tub is not completely flat either. On our tub this plug doesn't make a huge suction, like a suction cup type we've had before, but it does keep the water from going down the drain. With others at the end of the bath it was a huge effort to un-stick the suction cup and this one comes off pretty easily. One thing that is very different about this one that the heavy suction type is that you have to put it over the drain then fill the tub. If the little scooped in part has air in it, it won't stay down well or floats off. It's also different because it isn't flat, it has a hard plastic inside that sits over the drain, I'm surprised there where no photos of the underside so I've added one.I'd highly suggest this super cute drain plug, it works well and looks nice.

Wished it had some sort of suction
This works ok, most of the time. There’s definitely a trick to it, you have to make sure to put it in before the water goes in and I hold it down as it’s getting started filling. I can’t speak to whether or not it holds water, we use it for keeping my 1-year-old off the drain, both to keep his water in and to keep him from slipping and hurting himself. For that purpose, it works well enough and we’ll continue to use it. I do wish it suctioned to the tub - that would make it a lot more user friendly.

Doesn't stay in place
I love boon products. We have the ladybug bath toy storage and many other products we've been very happy with. So when we needed a new drain plug I looked to Boon. The stingray is really cute and made of a soft rubbery material that would not hurt your child or baby in the tub. That's about it in the plus column. It comes with a little suction cup hook to hang it up. The suction cup isn't strong enough to hold the drain plug so it just falls down. Also, when filling the tub, the force of the water from the faucet will knock the drain plug out of place. You have to hold it until the tub fills up a bit. Turning it upside down seems to work too. Then once your kids are in the tub, it's pretty easy for them to knock it out of place, which of course lets the water out of the tub.I gave it 3 stars though, because I could see it being useful if you wanted to use it to cover up a traditional metal drain plug so your kids wouldn't get hurt on it. If you want it to BE the drain plug, get something else.

Gets the job done!
This product works great for stopping up water during bath time. It's fun, easy to clean and keeps water in the tub without any needed adjustments.

Stops up our 70's tub that has no plug - updated** check under second piece
Original review: When it came time for our baby to move out of his little baby tub in to the big tub, I really wasn't sure what I was going to do. We have a very old tub that has no drain cover, it's just a big open hole. So, I had to solve two similar issues, cover the hole to stop the water so we could draw a proper bath and cover the hole so my little one couldn't stick his fingers in it. This starfish does both. It does not leak, it contours to the weird angle of the drain of our tub and tub wall. It is soft, it is CUTE, and it doesn't get any weird build up or biofilm on it. My son has touched it a few times when he first got to explore but has pretty much left it alone ever since. Maybe one day I'll use it to have some tubby time all to myself, but in the meantime it's been a necessity to my little one's daily baths.UPDATE: We just happened to find out after it got dislodged, that this is two separate pieces. Sure enough I took them apart - one piece being the star, and another being the same color harder plastic cup on the under side - and there was mold growing underneath. It was easily cleaned, and if I had known this was two pieces I would have separated them after using which I'm sure would have prevented the problem. We're still planning on using this but just a warning for other parents to separate the pieces and let it dry out! We'll try it without the harder piece for curiosity to see if it still blocks leaking, that would be better IMO than having to take it apart after every bath.
