Would this work on regular plastic drinking straws?

Yeah it works. You just have to use your head. You could also buy one of those crimped flat iron style seekers to do it and they only cost around $10 or less. If you’re going to do this you’ll wanna have some Heavy duty aluminum foil (or just double up the regular foil) between the sealer and the straws. You’ll be able to get a read nice seal that won’t separate and lead people trying to claim this or that. And lastly you could seal straws using a lighter and your fingers. This is quite fun, especially if the melted straw sticks to your skin!! But the cool thing about using your bare fingers is it’s the original crimp sealer that all other crimp sealers later copied. “ But how can that be you ask? They’s just flesh and bones?” Well the key is in your finger prints! When you have the straw good and melted quickly grab to tightly with a nice long firm pressure and then release. You’ll know it’s a perfect seal when your finger prints leaves ridges on the straw where you squished it together. If some straw sticks to you skin Like taffy that’s a sign of a great seal I guarantee it! You can also use your lips for a crimp marking going the opposite direction. Finally another option is your teeth! Front teeth from a fine seal similar to the typical 2mm heat sealer, incisors around a 3-3.5mm and the molars are around 6mm on average. Works very well on the dozen bags I used it on. I am sealing 6 gal mylar bags and it makes quick of it.
