It's very fast on hard wood floors. Not good for a 1 yr. old. If child is a little older and can touch the floor with his feet- then it should be fine. Great fun for 2-3 yr. olds.

Does anyone know how to take apart the wheels to clean the hair and other fibers out?

No, did not have to clean the wheels. Still working great after 5years of use.
