Great Lights, Great Price, & IC Rated When Used With LED Bulbs
Bought these recessed lights so I could upgrade from my unsightly track lighting. There's quite a bit of confusion on whether these lights are IC-Rated or not. IC meaning Insulated Contact, or the ability to install the lights surrounded by insulation without fear of setting the house on fire. So I went ahead and contacted Globe Electric customer support and they confirmed that this model is indeed IC-rated if used with LED bulbs. There is an additional safety feature of having an integrated cut-off switch, ensuring that the fixture will not overheat and can be used with or without an insulation box.So, yes, these recessed lights are IC rated as long as you install them with an LED bulb. A big plus when installing as a remodel job.The lights themselves are great, easy to install, can swivel in any direction, and the nickel finish gives a stylish appearance. They're exceedingly bright when used in conjunction with a 50w LED bulb equivalent. Installation is pretty easy but make sure to check for studs behind the drywall where you want to cut the hole. Feeding a bent coat hanger through a small hole in the drywall is a great method of determining if there's any obstructions. As other reviewers mentioned these lights are slightly smaller than the standard 4" recessed can so you'll need a slightly smaller hole saw bit. I got the MK Morse AV62 Hole Saw, 3-7/8-Inch Bi-Metal Boxed . Also, I highly recommend getting a drillers dust bowl like this one, Morris Products 13500 Drillers Dust Bowl to catch all the bits of drywall when you cut the holes for the lighting. Otherwise, you'll have drywall dust everywhere.Overall, I like these recessed lights very much. Great lights, great price, & IC rated when used with LED bulbs.

Simply Perfect
Simply perfect! I installed 7 of these in my 10x12 foot kitchen with 6.5 watt dimmable warm white GU10 bulbs and couldn't be any happier. Installation was really a piece of cake, I installed all the lights from inside my kitchen, feeding 14 gauge flex wire through each opening grabbing it from the next hole attaching to the light fixture, popping it in the ceiling and grabbing each consecutive link of flex through each hole. I only had to go up to the attic to attach the first light in my circuit to power and I was done.Tips:- I used a 3 5/8" hole saw in my dry wall ceiling which was perfect even though instructions recommend 3 7/8" hole saw.- Don't worry about the non IC rating. I bought the highest wattage dimmable bulbs I could find and they are barely warm to the touch directly on the bulb. I added a some 2x4s in my attic to part the insulation and leave the area clear for the lights, but these lights simply give off so little heat it doesn't matter. The IC rating is simply a legal certificate.- If you buy dimmable bulbs (which you should because these suckers are bright) be sure to buy a dimmer specific to LED lights. Also, be aware that every dimmer will give you a slight delay between flipping the switch and the lights coming on, its simply a limitation of LED dimmers.I really can't say enough about these lights. The housing is solid, elegant and very minimalistic. The price is unreal compare to what is available at home improvement stores. They have truly transformed my kitchen. I'm ready to install them EVERYWHERE!

Perfect for my new house!
After doing some research, I decided to buy 50 of these for my brand new house. Installation was fairly easy. I do have to admit I was a little deceived with the design. The diagram shows a shaft between the cable box and the actual housing, and it appeared as if this shaft was retractable so that the entire device could be shrunk and fit into tighter spaces. Turns out that the shaft is a rigid piece of metal. Please take this into consideration if you plan to install this on a small space. The device itself is pretty long, but if you have drywall recessed ceiling with enough space up top you should be fine. The cable box house saying to me was pretty good. It allows you to make all necessary connections and keep it isolated from any other things you might have surrounding the device. One thing you should be aware of is that the edges are pretty sharp. As I tried to fit the device I found myself getting cut several times.Other than that, I give this a well deserved 4.5 just because of that issue of the shaft not being retractable. Changing this would be a great addition to an otherwise great device.

Great value and performance
This is my second purchase of these lights. I've outfitted my basement with now 20 of them. Installation with the additional joist brackets is straightforward, along with the wiring. Make sure to buy quality bulbs with an excellent CRI rating and proper color temperature for your room, and you won't be disappointed.

Great price, great quality, easy to install!
These are great recessed lighting receiptals! We are doing a new basement renovation and wanted to modernize the spot, these are very well priced! We saw some of these costing $60+ a light! I would not even hesitate to buy these again, they are smaller, compact, and super easy to install and insert the bulbs! Love the options of finishes also, but white was our pick for this job.

Easy to install
I have used these lights in the past and went back to them when I completed my basement renovation. They are easy to install and are a great value. Just keep in mind that this is a contractor pack and twist connectors are not included in the box.
