It was very informative and included many things I never thought of....

Rescued & hand-fed a dove to "adult" status - it does not like to be handled, as it has matured and become dependently independent, contrary to suggesting it be held regularly ... that in and of itself is too stressful for it.

I found this book to be very complete and helpful to anyone who is interested in doves. There are lots of sources given for anyone who wants to research the topic further. It is a great book!

I didn’t realise this book is based mostly on American birds and also purely indoor, caged varieties.It was worth a read but as a cote keeper, it didn’t really teach me anything I didn’t already know apart from the colour varieties of some breeds of pigeons/doves.It’s very short but it did cover the basics of caged bird keeping, so if you are looking for a book on diamond, Barbary or Java doves or some similar breed then it’s handy as a quick guide regarding what’s involved and things to consider.If I’d known it was purely about caged birds from an American perspective then I wouldn’t have bothered since I wrongly assumed it would also cover birds that are kept in cotes or aviaries which most UK keepers tend to favour.If you want books on dove or pigeon keeping for birds that will be outdoors then this is perhaps not the best book you could buy and there are better out there for the same price as this one.

As a huge fan and keeper of doves the recipient absolutely loved this gift. Excellent price - would highly recommend
