Dude.....Buy it!!!! This thing is amazing....
I have attempted to play the puzzling game of golf since 2007 with very inconsistent results. I have experienced moments of triumph and bouts of pure agony. I am not un-athletic and have above average hand/eye coordination. My results on the course however have been very inconsistent in spite of my efforts. I have read books, bought training aides, and taken lessons. I play better than my friends who play less than me but I was still terrible. I went out to a local par 3 a few weeks ago and I was shanking the ball on every shot which even for me was disheartening. My plan was to put my clubs down and not touch them for 6 months, then sell them. I hate to say it.. but I was about to quit. So I googled, "best golf training aide" and one of the first things that came up was the Swingyde. My initials thoughts are "useless piece of plastic" if anyone remembers the Dana Carvey stand-up skit... But I figured what do I have to lose? So this unimpressive piece of plastic shows up 2 weeks ago in a box with a dvd, sweat band, and really cool rubber band. I felt ashamed... duped again by a unscrupulous entrepreneur mercileesly taking advantage of my lust for golfing excellence. So I put the thing on my 9 iron and make my typical hack. My left forearm isn't mating with the swingyde's pocket on the backswing and certainly not the follow through. So I take a deep breath and slow things down. Instead of keeping my head still and foocused on the target I watch my arms go back to insure my forearm makes love to the tip of the swingyde. After a few tries I consistently get the swing guide to say "yes" instead of "no". The follow through is a little trickier but eventually I get that too. After I little while(20 minutes) I can feel that I am more in control. On the hilariously outdated DVD the guy (RIP) says the golf swing is not a "thought process" its "just forming a habit with our muscles". So for the next week I spend 20 minutes each morning and night swinging my 9 iron with the swingyde attached. I can tell when swings are good and swings are not good and the good ones happen more frequesntly. I have a shag carpet that has been in my house since 1984 and anytime I swing well it leaves a nice divot and I can tell how the club head came through at impact. I could for whatever reason hit a driver decently and putt but I was garbage with my irons. So after a week of my in home training sessions I finally had time to visit my local "executive 9 hole course". They should really call these middle management courses. Anyway I get to the first tee and I'm tense and as tight a Kardashian's face after a botox treatment and chunk my first shot. My thought is "useless piece of plastic." I get to the second hole which is a uphill 136 yard par 3 obviously with a back pin position. I suck so I have to use my 7 iron and a tee, so I'm not too proud. This time I took some deep breaths and thought about the hottest girlfriend I ever had, but more importantly when I took my two practice swings I imagined the swingyde was lovingly hugging the grip of my club. I addressed the ball, pulled my club back and let God take care of the rest. What I felt can be best described by one of my favorite authors John Updike. He said, "hitting a pure golf shot is a religious experience." It felt like I hit the best iron shot of my life. I felt like I made that ball my b****. It hits the green rolls and lands about 10 feet from the pin, which for me...is amazing. I looked around and saw I was alone. Probably because it was 8:22am on a Thursday. I felt like a Greek God. I decided well I'll get real crazy and hit my ball off the ground with no tee and try to replicate my previous shots awesomeness. I threw a ball down on the tee box, went through my routine, and struck it. This one was even better. I really trapped the ball between my club and the ground, heard that fantastic smack, saw a beavertail fly through the air and my ball soar trough the air gently landing on the green and rolling 4 fee away from the hole. That was this morning, and if you're still reading this you can probably tell I love the swing guide. It could be $400 because that's how much I was about to blow on lessons. And this dumb thing has me striking the ball in ways I never thought possible. I want to give it as a present to everyone I know who has even heard of golf. I want to fly out to Australia and find whoever made this thing and have his offspring marry my daughters. All kidding aside I have never written a "online review" for anything in my life but the swingyde is freaking awesome. I've only been using it two weeks and it has probably taken years off my futile attempts at trying to get better. I havent even put it on my driver yet but I know when I do I'll be crushing it. I gave it to my really hot young girlfriend who never swung a club and after a few swings even she looked like Natalie Goublis. I have the thing next to me right now while I write this review. I even sleep with it at night. If you want to hit pure shots and actually enjoy golf please I implore you buy it. It will be the best $30 you ever spent. It was for me. God bless. Thank you. Hail to the Redskins.

Really works
As a beginner, I was struggling to diagnose my inconsistent (slice, whiff, no loft,) driver. This product in combination with grip trainer were all I needed to turn it around. Went from 30% to about 95% straight and long drives. Forget all targeted ads touting expensive solutions. Swingyde and grip trainer is all I needed.

What an Idiot I was for Not Buying One Ten Years Ago!
I know there are knock-off versions of this but I wanted to support the inventor AND my experience of friends buying clone stuff has taught me that yopu pretty much get what you pay for. The Swingyde comes withe instructions on a couple of sheets, a 30 minute DVD showing all sorts of drills and how it works, an study elastic band to get you started by wrapping the band round your left wrist and the Swingyde, and a sweat band for your wrist in case you find the band chafes a little. So a nice little set of complimentary teaching add ons you don't get with the clones.I was reading Jim Waldron's book on swing techniques and drills based on his swing drills and his ideas about how the swing is an allusion of swinging arms rather than the truth of arms in front, side, of the chest and the arms and wrists just move up and down. The Swingyde is perfect for practicing these drills and it has greatly improved my ball striking and accuracy as I am managing to start to eliminate some habits ingrained over twenty years of 18 h/c golf. The Swingyde is attached to the grip about an inch from the end - there's a demo of where to fix it specific to your grip on the DVD and the handout - square it up to the grooves on the face of the club, tighten the wing nut, and you are ready to go. It will fit onto any of your clubs. When you swing you'll immediately identify whether you are staying square and flat with your left wrist. My son and I thought we were pretty good and would be proven correct. Wrong! I was nearly right on the back-swing. but I lost it on the way down with a wristy move to kind of flip the ball and then went into a very closed follow-through. That last part immediately told me where my very low miss-hits were coming from and were the unreliable accuracy was caused by. My son went closed at the top and closed all the way through - he has a hook problem - now we know were that's coming from.I have been using this ever since it arrived, every day. It really is a great little swing drill aid and it works in such a simple way. If you take a look at some of Jim Waldron's free videos on the web, you'll get to understand how this tool works and helps you strike the ball better. Removing the wristy hinging from my swing has made a huge difference to my accuracy- for the first time in years I actually feel I know exactly where the ball is going - OK perhaps my execution is off occasionally now, but I'm now 5 yards either side of where I want to be with my drives, so it must be helping.Bottom line - I would have never tried this unless Jim Waldron hadn't recommended it in his eBook. I'd seen this aid around for years and never thought it would help. I was wrong and I've missed out not buying one ten years ago when it could have been helping me to a more accurate, longer, ball strike. It seems a little expensive, but it's worth what it does for the same price as one lesson. Take a look at the Waldron stuff, if that's what you would like to work on, then buy a Swingyde. These are my all time favourite gold tools. If you buy this product you NEED to know this
I've been playing golf seriously for twelve years. During this time I've tinkered with my swing more times than I should have, but this experimentation (as well as 50+ lessons) has given me some insight into the golf swing. My lowest index was 3.2 a few years back and currently it's 9.6.As for my Amazon rating, the reason for four stars instead of five is because of the poor documentation that does not cover what I'm about to go over here. The product itself is worthy of 5 stars and the impact it can have on your game is probably worth at least twenty lessons. $60/lesson * 20 = $1,200 of value. So . . . what does the documentation not tell you?First, your grip. Many golfers who take lessons are taught to strengthen their grip by rotating the left hand clockwise as it holds the club. The feeling of this grip is that the left hand is more on top of the club and the right hand is more underneath the club. This position works for me, feeling more powerful at the release. However, if you swing with a strong grip, and the Swingyde cups your left forearm at the top of the backswing (or earlier) as intended, your clubface will be open at impact and your ball will shoot out to the right. If you keep swinging with this guide set up at the neutral position, your body will begin to make corrections to compensate and you and your swing will suffer mightily. The correction is to rotate the Swingyde on your club to match the strength of your grip. For me, it's about 1:30-2pm.Second, your release. Some theories state there are two types of release. In one type, you rotate your forearms to square your club face at impact because your left arm stays inline with the club shaft through almost all of the swing. Note: this is the type of release Phil Mickelson and Rory Mcilroy use, if you want to look up an example. If you release your club like this, then the swingyde will indeed cup the side of your left forearm during the takeaway, and will also cup it again after impact. Just like the documentation says it should. However, the other type of release (and the one I use) dictates that the club shaft should align with the right forearm as soon as possible during the down swing. The clubface is squared at impact by the right elbow clamped tightly to your side as your right forearm and wrist make an underhand throwing motion that should continue past the release. If you employ this type of release, the Swingyde WILL cup your left wrist during your backswing, but will NOT necessarily cup your left forearm after impact. In fact, if you focus (like I did) on making it cup your left forearm after release, then you will probably introduce forearm rotation into your release, mixing both release types and setting a savage hooking spin onto your ball and mountains of frustration in your heart. The proper finish for this kind of release is a hyperextended right wrist and the swingyde just flubbing against the left forearm after impact. It's possible to rotate the forearms after an underhand throw release, but you must focus on not allowing that rotation to creep into the actual release. One last minor note; the swingyde by itself will not give you a more shallow swing plane. As long as the club shaft aligns with your left forearm, the guide's arm will cup your forearm. Videoing your swing will help you with that.Overall, this is entirely a worthwhile purchase and once I realized I needed to account for the adjustments above, the swingyde is having extremely favorable impacts on my swing.
