Most Rugged and Best Looking Kids Bike on the Market But Make Sure Your Child Has the Size and Strength to Handle it.
I am giving this five stars due to the Tykesbykes customer service as this is a company that not only stands by its products but the CEO personally called and emailed me to work out a shipping problem that occurred that he solved even though it was no fault of his or his company. A company that operates like this in today's day and age deserves five stars.PROS: It is a about the most awesome looking kids bike on the market with very nice components, including disk brakes. Five stars for appearance. Five stars for quality of components. The weight for what you get is fine, close to some non-fat tire steel frame bikes. You will need to either take t his bike into a bike shop to get turned or have the knowledge on how to tune it up yourself because no bike comes out of the box tuned. That is why the gears don't shift perfectly and the brakes rub a bit when you first put it together (which is simple). Nothing wrong with the bike as some other posts suggested, just needs some fine tuning. This bike will roll over anything in its path and is extraordinarily stable. It is also extremely smooth over bumps and the give of the tires make up for no suspension (which some say is not needed by kids who don't have enough weight to benefit from suspension anyway).I bought this for my little girl's 7th birthday. She is 54 pounds, 48" tall with a 20" inseam. This bike requires (which is clearly stated online) at least a 22" inseam and is a ibit too big for her. She will grow into it but if you are buying it for a kid, make sure to pay attention to the fit. This is not a dig on the bike, just making sure you don't buy it by age but by size and strength.Gearing: I give the gearing on the bike 3 stars. It is a lot of bike and even in first gear, which looks like it was retrofitted with the best ratio that they could fit, it is a tough to pedal bike. It is nowhere close to an adult bike's first gear. This is ok when riding on level ground but I can see it being a challenge for kids going uphill until they get significant strength to power up the hill. I also don't like the somewhat extreme angle the chain is at in first gear couple of gears (photo attached). It would improve the bike if they could figure out how to make the chain angle less extreme and the ratio easier to pedal in the lower gears.Bottom line, this is a lot of bike that requires a child to have enough strength and size to handle. That said, this bike will be in the family for many years as it should suit her well into her teen years. When I raise the set up to the highest position I can ride it just fine (for diagnostic purposes, not for actual Mountain bike riding) at 5'9" which means it will suit my daughter fine for many years.

Weighs more than stated
My bike was also over 30 pounds. My local bike shop assembled it and then weighed it and it comes in at 32 lbs 14 ounces. Just be aware.UPDATE even weighing more than advertised the kids really like it. So far it is working out well.

bike weight is actually 33.5 lbs
Details of bike state bike it is less than 30lb which is untrue, actual weight is 33.5 lbs. When using the highest gear it will shift into the gear but like another reviewer it will not stay in gear and automatically shifts out. Also beware there is a whole lot more white on this bike than you appreciate in the picture. The one we received had white handle bars and the top bar of the bike is also white. We mainly purchased the bike because it was suppose to be lighter than similar bikes but since the weight is 4.5 lbs heavier than stated and the problem with the gear, I don't believe the quality(I looked at other bikes in person) is any better than less expensive ones($50-100 less).

Bummed it didn't work out
I would give the item 2.5 stars if possible. It came a little scratched up. The suggested kick stand did not fit. The lowest gear would not stay engaged properly. The wheels had a lot of resistance due to what seamed to be poor lubrication...there was an obvious screeching noise when in motion. So the negative review was bound to happen for me. That said, the bike looked really cool and the weight was favorable for a child. Maybe I just got a bad one...bummed it didn't work out.

Absolutely the Best Quality and Value in Bicycles!
What absolutely amazing bicycles! From the aluminum frames, crank sets, and seat posts to the high quality disk brakes, amazing wheels, and locking grips the attention to every detail is rarely seen on $800.00 boutique bikes. Acquiring a bicycle of this quality in design, manufacturing, and component choice is normally a very difficult and costly endeavor. However not only are these bikes all of that it’s accomplished at amazing prices. What many seem to often miss is that most manufacturers are offering a market comprising 7 to 14 year olds fat tire bikes which weigh between 43lbs and 48lbs and regular tire bikes of almost as much. At 29lbs the fat tire bike is truly unequaled and the Sprinter is an even more amazing sub 23lbs allowing the targeted age group to have the advantage of go any where over anything tires without having to pedal almost twice the weight. Between the Fat tire bike and the Sprinter 20 we have two preteen boys who are living large and loving life. Great job and thank you Ian!

Great bike with some modifications!
I bought this used. Nice frame and parts for the price. Really needed the following upgrades. Modified crankset to 32tooth chainring and freewheel to 34 tooth. Added 35mm stem and 3” riser bar. Installed Specialized Ground Control 20x4” tires and made the bike 3lbs lighter. Now it rips!

Fantastic bike
This bike is great! My 6 year old daughter was reluctant to ride her old bike. Within an hour of getting on the Tykes Byke, she was balancing and pedaling around the park. The next day she rode a rail trail for about 4 miles. The bike is well-made, sturdy, and really looks like a "big kid" bike. My daughter loves it and now we can enjoy family rides. Highly recommended.
