Hal Leonard Teach Yourself to Play Guitar

A great starting point
I bought this as pretty much an absolute beginner, even though I was in the market for a book with a bit more meat on the bones in terms of theory and context. I'm glad I did, because it really does get you playing simple songs and progressions quickly, in an easy to follow way.If you practice regularly, you will get through this book pretty quickly. Make no mistake about it - the book is very bare-bones. It will probably leave you wanting a bit more, and a bit of context in some areas, but it really does set you up nicely for moving on to slightly more advanced material. We all have to start somewhere, and I found this to be a great starting point for me. Highly recommended.

More intermediate than beginner, in my opinion
Couple of things - the first being entirely my fault for not reading the product details. This 'book' is basically a magazine (just 47 pages long) and I would say aimed more at intermediate players than beginners. It also forgets to define a couple of terms before throwing them at the reader, such as 'muted' and 'open' strings. Luckily I'd taken a few basic online lessons so I knew these terms, but for an absolute beginner they'll be left wondering what these mean as they're not defined. In addition I found the explanation of reading tablature difficult to follow.

AMAZING FOR BEGINNERS
AMAZING book for beginners. I learned how to tune my guitar, the name of the chords and the basic chords. If you know NOTHING about guitars and want to learn how to play it, definetly get this book.*If this review was helpful for you, please click on "Helpful"*

Does the job
For a complete beginner a bit confusing in some places but since had no lessons and trying to learn from book during lock down with a little help from YouTube it's fling into place getting there slowly.
