This is not the 4th book of the series
This is not book 4 of the series as advertised. Is is the American edition of the second book (Explorers on Witch Mountain). My son loves this series and was extremely disappointed. The series is brilliant, and he is looking forward to Alex Bell doing another one.

Devoured by my 7YO
After devouring the polar bear explorers club my 7YO daughter is feverishly ploughing through this now too. The story telling is creative and enticing, but still accessible for her age group. The narrative is comfortable with respect to the depth of vocabulary needed but not patronising.A delight. The book says “for fans of Philip Pullman” and is agree with this in terms of being carried away in a great story, but these are more accessible to the younger reader from the experience in our family. The book is scattered through with illustrations that help inspire Creativity. One minor niggle after a thoroughly enjoyable book review discussion with my 7YO. Not enough adventures. The first book was almost solid exploring and adventure. This one not so much.

A fantastic middle grade series
This book officially confirms that I have found a new favourite series. I loved this book!🥰 I loved spending more time with these wonderful characters and getting to explore more of this magical world. I also absolutely adore the friendship between the characters, it’s so wholesome and adorable. This book also made me laugh so many times. From the banter between characters to a certain magic carpet scene (it was so chaotic, I loved every minute of it) to Ethan just being well Ethan I guess😂. The sense of adventure throughout the whole book was also wonderful and really exciting.

An amazing adventure!
A brilliant adventure taking Stella to an island with terrifying teddy bears, witches and witch hunters, poisonous gingerbread houses, and of course, her trusty friends. I love this series. They’re so much more than just adventure stories - there’s a massive punch of meaning. Felix gives some bloody brilliant advice in these books. I utterly devoured this. It’s safe to say I can’t wait for book 3!

Excellent concept, totally original.
Alex Bell is an under rated author. This series is every bit as good as Harry Potter. I think its aimed at under 10s but my kids, who read a lot, think it's more suited to slightly older readers. We enjoyed the first book so much we ordered the second immediately. This book is right up there with JKR, Phillip Pulman and Rick Riordan.
