Q: How is the ball joint mounted to the base? ¼ 20 perhaps? Looking for one that has ¼ 20 thread in the base.

The four holes in the plate are 3/16” and the the bolt with the thumb screw that holds the ball joint is 1/4”. Hope this answers your question.

You would have to use the rectangular top plate as a template to drill your CB mount to match.

Q: what diameter is the ball?

It is less than 1 inch which is a standard, especially for Ram-mount. Will not fit a Ram-mount ball. Too small.

Q: What is the height of it?

5-6 inches. I too wish it was 9-10 inches high.
