Folded frame needs support but it's quality paper
My daughter and I both liked the feel and sturdiness of the paper (it's not canvas as I had originally thought). The reason I didn't give more stars is because it doesn't fold as easily to perfection as you want/hope for. It ends up not being flat and a little wobbly once folded. The biggest issue is that you aren't supposed to need to glue or tape to make it a framed square once folded, but you do need one or the other because it won't stay together on its own. Other than that, we like it. Both the regular paint and water color paint we used on it look great without any bleeding thru to the other side. And it might be sturdier if we use glue when folding the frame but we haven't tried that yet (wish we didn't need to).

Good paper quality
Love it! The paper quality is very decent. I used for oil pastel - the mask tape is very sticky, however the paper is pressed very well and won't be hurt by tapes. It is very flat with sharp edges after folded. Highly recommend.

Sturdy and easy to fold
Easy to fold. I used watercolors and they set in well and did not soak through. I would recommend.

Time and money saver
The paper is great. I wish it was cold pressed but the folding saves you from mounting and framing.

New art project
These are nice and able to turn kids art into hangable pieces of work.

Nice for children.
Holds paint nicely, easy to fold, but the paper is not very thick, but if thicker it would not be easy to fold.

Nice surface for lots of different types of media; don't care for logo
This mixed media surface is really nice to work on. It is smooth, so it takes alcohol markers, coloured pencils, and paints very well. I also like that it is thick enough to withstand some moisture without buckling, so I've also used it for watercolours pretty successfully (although I like a bit of tooth to my watercolour surfaces) and also with glue for making collages. The sheets come in a pad and are easy to remove. You can work on them flat and fold them together afterwards, or fold it into a canvas and work that way. The material is strong enough to work on when folded; the centre won't sag.The only thing I don't really care for is the large Arteza logos that are still visible even when the canvas is folded. The logos are on the back, but I would still prefer if the logo was a bit more hidden, say on the inside part of the back frame.

Clever and versatile product!
When I first took this DIY frame pad, I was really confused. Why would I use this and not a canvas? I had a bit of a think and realised...as an acrylic artist overall I wasn't thinking about other mediums. For example, mediums like Gouache or Watercolour usually would be done on paper and thus you'd have to frame them or just hang the paper as is.This card 'canvas' allows you to create art with a variety of mediums and still have it be easily hangable in the way a stretched canvas frame is. I've used it with Gouache, while doing a course on Gouache (of course) and it's working very well. It would also be great for if you're not sure if your piece will be 'worth it' to hang. Instead of wasting a canvas and having to paint over it, you could paint it here, flat and then assemble the frame if you like or cut off the edges and keep it as a flat piece if you feel it wasn't good enough for the wall. The edges are also easier to paint while it's flat. You could even cut out sections and have a hangable papercraft piece. It leaves a lot of room for creativity that I hadn't considered when thinking only of the paints/arts I'm most advanced in.Assembly isn't difficult, but I did find the instructions a little confusing at first and feel that they could visually be a little clearer, even without descriptive text. Once you've felt it out and did it once, you'll easily understand how to do it the second time.Overall, a clever and versatile idea that can help make several mediums quick and easy to hang without the use of frames.

Impressed
This is such a cool idea. I love the pad/book idea. The price is actually really impressive for this booklet. You get 20 sheets of heavy art paper which is working out to approximately 1.00 a sheet.I recommend pulling the tabs off first before doing your art on this and take it out of the booklet before you use any wet media. I am a sloppy painter/artist and end up making a mess out of everything, so for someone like me it is best to protect the rest of your canvases.Originally when I ordered this I was expecting something similar to water colour paper, it is similar but the difference is that this has a smooth texture and water colour paper is gritty and grange the paint. This paper works for all types of media but remember it is still a paper so if you use too much water (ALOT) then it will get soggy. However, it can still take a wet medium (paint) without getting soggy. I would also say that if you are heavy handed (I am) that you should really consider what type of medium that you are using. If you are planning on painting and want to draw in pencil first you may want to be mindful that you are not pressing down too hard with the pencil because it will leave indents.I’m not saying any of these things are a bad thing because art is totally objective but if you are nit picky about how your piece turns out then take caution ahead of time and plan around some of these factors. These are still so cool, I would have loved to have had something like this as a kid. I love the fact that these pages can be folded into having an edge, this allows you to get out of having to frame your piece. I was always told that if you are going to paint around edges that you either colour it one solid colour or you continue the full piece around the edges- sometimes for me that makes it difficult to decide on how and where I will end my art, but with this being flat (fold later) then I am able to complete the entire piece including the edges.Over all I am quite impressed with these. I would recommend these to anyone interested in substituting a canvas for something new, or anyone that wants a nice quality canvas to do their work on. It’s awesome that it comes compact in a bad/booklet!Great job!

Cool Idea for Water Colour and Mixed Media
Arteza makes great products and the DIY frame stands out (pun intended). From art pad to framed piece all in one page.I removed the sheet from the pad and taped it down to my work surface. With the sheet laid out I had access to the entire paper, I could paint the top and sides of the canvas on the flat surface.I read the directions on folding, then off to the internet for a demo. It was easy to find one. With the directions and the demo, the paper was easy to fold into a professional looking frame. The mixed media paper was nice to work with. The paper is smooth and thick. I used ink, marker, watercolour and pencil in the same picture. Each medium took well to the paper. The only one that had problems was the markers – they seeped through the paper a bit but it was OK.My artwork continued on to the sides of the “canvas”, it created a nice finish the work in my opinion.I really like the immediate gratification that the Arteza DIY Frame provides. I can fold and hang the finished piece when complete - no other tools or parts required.

Folds Into a Very Nice Canvas, Without the Canvas Feel at First
This DIY Frame Mixed Media pad works well. I’m an amateur and have never used a canvas, I find it a bit intimidating. This was a great answer for me, it is flat at first, then easily turns into a canvas after folding the sides in. And it looks impressive! The directions to fold in the sides are on the back of the pad, and very easy to follow, no issues. I used gouache paint on my first project, and maybe I was a bit heavy on the water for a water-colour effect, but I thought it stood up to water-colour only “okay”. After it was dry, the paper was flat again. I also must have rubbed a spot with a paint brush a bit too hard when I got a bit too much paint in one area, because it looked like I used an eraser in a small spot. Again, I’m an amateur, but this has not happened to me with paper specifically for water-colour. This is thick paper, so I would expect other art mediums to have no issues, except maybe a heavy marker. I highly recommend this DIY Frame Mixed Media pad, it creates a very nice canvas without feeling a bit intimidated—and there are 20 sheets in a pad!
