Third Eye Headlamps - Stylish Artist-Designed Replacement Bands - Soft, Adjustable, Universal, Fits Most Headlamps

This replacement headband was used to replace the original headstrap on a Petzl Pixa that had gradually lost its elasticity.Before attempting to install the new strap, I strongly recommend viewing the extremely helpful installation video at the manufacturer website (Amazon does not permit hyperlinks to be included in a product review but it is easy to google. The small business card included with the product also has this link printed on it.)The video -clearly- shows that the headband is NOT a continuous loop (some of the ranting 1 star review incorrectly state that the headband is a continuous loop) which allows you to use it as a Petzl headband replacement.After you undo the Third Eye headstrap from their slotted clip, there is some patience required (profanity level: ~3/10) to stuff the headband fabric through the corresponding narrow slits of the Petzl mounting plate; other than that, it was pretty straightforward. There is an adequate range of adjustment for an average sized adult male's head -- I was able to adjust it from uncomfortably snug all the way to falling-off-the-forehead loose.There is a surprising dearth of products like this that can replace headlamp bands regardless of manufacturer. I'd like this band to last as long as possible; as such it should be noted that Petzl's own website suggests avoiding hanging the headlamp by the strap during storage, to maximize headband lifespan. (I wish I had known this before, as the headstrap I'm replacing had been hanging by the headband from a hook in the garage for several years!)

I bought this to replace a worn out black diamond strap. It fit my headlamp with out issue. The materials seem very high quality and the elastic has this soft lining material which I expect won't irritate your skin. That being said, this strap its self is very small, almost 5 inches shorter than the old BD, (don't bother using it on a climbing helmet as a result) and the colors are much lighter than the photo, Also, the arrangement of the pattern looks awkward as if they didn't look at it when it was being assembled. Lastly, some of the stitching is crooked (like at a 60 degree angle, but it doesn't look intentional) and the stitching is not reinforced with any sort of whip or back-stitch from what i can tell, which means I imagine it could come apart at an inopportune moment. (assembled quickly on a cheap sewing machine without QC?) Most other manufactures, (petzl, BD, nite, Princeton tec, coast) have stopped sewing their straps entirely i imagine for this reason. At least that issue is easy to fix. .

It was a bit tight when I first got it, so I stretched it over a board and left it for six months to see it that would help.Then I realized that I had just not adjusted it properly, Duh! I have now installed it, super easy and it works wonderfully! I am back to buy another one.I am updating my review. I love these replacement bands! I have just ordered my fourth one for the four Black Diamond headlamps. I have one in car, one for dog walking and night time gardening, and one for reading in bed at night, (way better than a book light). The ones that Black Diamond comes with are not very well made and lose most of their elasticity within a year. The replacement bands made by Third Eye are much better quality and overall the lamp feels much more secure on my head.Update 2021: I have just ordered three more for some cheap headlamps, "Defiant" brand, perhaps from Home Depot. We tried using one of our other Third Eye bands on them and they work fine.

I've purchased this band to replace the band on the Petzl Tikka XP2.Upon receiving the band and faced with actual replacement I've noticed that:- Third eye band in a continuous circle- Petzl band allows disassembly and it's the only way to assemble it to the headlampUnfortunately, Third Eye didn't provide an extensive list of suitable headlamp models and thus I'm stuck with it.

This product allowed me to resurrect a Petzl Tikki XP headlamp that was still perfectly good EXCEPT that the headband was stretched out from too many cycles of use on and off a helmet. The worn out strap made the headlamp unusable. I am very happy with the look, feel, and function of this replacement headband. A card delivered with the product provided a link to online instructions. I viewed the excellent Petzl specific instruction video, and had no problem with installation (though I was not a huge fan of thebackground music). BOTTOM LINE - While I can't yet assess longevity and wear, my initial assessment is this is a very good product!

I bought this headband to replace the aging one on a Black Diamond headlamp. The elastic is nice and beefy, but the product is more about flash than function. The total length of the elastic is perhaps 1/3 shorter than the original Black Diamond band. Obviously a longer band allows for much greater versatility, from fitting a skinny head to accommodating a beefy helmet. While the new headband is pretty much at its limit on my bare, skinny head, it’s too tight while wearing a thin merino cap.While the Black Diamond band is held together with solid custom fittings, the Third Eye band is merely hot cut at the ends and sewn—too far from the end of the elastic, leaving an unnecessary length of elastic with a sharp hot cut poking out and leaving unwanted bulk inside the circumference of the band.If I require another band in the future, I’ll look harder for function. Incidentally, the third eye has nothing to do with flash—it’s all about function.
