The Salvation: Unseen

Back on track!
This is the best 'ghost writer' Vampire Diaries yet! It is very exciting and well written in a style I think similar to LJ Smith's. I just couldn't put it down - just like the original LJ books! There is a twist at the end that I never would have seen coming however this ending may divide opinion on the book as some readers won't like it. Let's just hope we get what we want in the next 2 books and this ending isn't final! I can't say much else without giving too much away but once you read it you'll know what I mean.*edit 29/06/14*Well we didn't get what we want (well what I want anyway) in the next 2 books. The next one, The Vampire Diaries: 12: The Salvation: Unspoken , is good and exciting, well written etc like this one, with another excellent unexpected ending. But the last book, The Vampire Diaries: 13: The Salvation: Unmasked , is awful. Very hard to read and undoes everything from the whole series! Avoid at all costs and just make up your own ending! Too easy.
I'll start off by saying that when I first started this series of books I absolutely loved them, and was hanging on every word, literally not putting the books down until I'd finished them. As time hs gone on and more and more books in this series have been released, I've still read them religiously - I've never been one to give up on any series, even if they do get a little long winded or dragged out too much. This book was still very much the same, I was still reading with curiosity and excitement. However, the thing that lets the entire books down is that every fight that the gang fight comes off as too damn easy. Elena is as Mary-Sue like as ever, gaining her new powers as soon as the need arises, and everything just seemingly falling into place. I just feel like it could have been written better - it could have seemed like there was a bigger struggle during the fights. All of them just seemed to start abruptly, seem like "all hope is lost!" and then at the flip of a switch, it gets turned around and everything is fine again and they've won.Now if you've already read the book and you're thinking "that's so wrong! "____" has died and everyone is so sad and them winning doesn't seem like a triumph!" or something similar to that - That seemed, to me, like a careless plot twist just thrown in to make it more "emotional." I've not doubt that they will find a way to save that person, or that person will randomly come back - just like Elena, Damon, and Katherine all have done previously. My conclusion to this review is simple. I still do really enjoy the series, the characters have all grown on me so much that I will still read them until the series ends - however it seems like the writing/story is just getting pretty sloppy and no real, hard thought/emotions have gone into the book. The words are just that - words on a page, written to fill the pockets of the writers/whoever owns the damn rights to the books nowadays.
