Philosophy: The Classics

Easy to Follow
Philosophy is not one of the subjects that I view as easy to explain, especially since many philosophers are known to be wordy in their works. This book proved that it was possible to do because the author went through the major works of dozens of philosophers and explains the main point they tried to make. He also gives the criticism each philosopher's work received and even in many cases counter-criticisms.It gave me the broad, basic outline of many major philosophers that I was looking for. The author includes a lot of further reading suggestions, as well, which helped me know where to go to get a more in depth look.

Need more people like Nigel.
Nigel's works are always great. Clearly written with no jargon. He is sympathetic to newcomers. His love of knowledge is contagious, as well.Knowledgable without the arrogance and he keeps his own views in check.Check out any of his Podcasts, too. "Philosophy Bites," "Thinking Bools," and the one this book is based on, "Philosophy The Classics."
