Probably the cheapest hardware to hardware erasing method. Put away the software!
This is used to erase hard drives. I bought this because I was tired of looking around for software to erase a hard drive and getting mixed reviews. You don't have to worry about an operating system preventing the hard drive from being erased. It worked on all but 1 hard drive that I've tested, and I think I tested around 8. There are erasing methods to choose. This is a simple unit with an external power cord, connectiion for a printer, and hard drive connection. The hardest part is removing the hard drive. All that is required is connecting the hard drive, turning the Driver Erazer on and going through and confirming the options. Once it starts, just walk away and come back later. There are adapters to buy for non Sata/IDE 3.5 drives.

WiebeTech Drive eRazer Ultra - terrific product...no PC needed
Ordered product on 10 May 2016 and received it the following day. It doesn't get any better than that for service. And, so far, it works as advertised. I'm using DoD SANITIZE with a 2h, 15m completion estimate on an IDE 160 Gig HDD. WeibeTech eRazer Ultra is 4.25 by 3 inches in size, just slightly larger than a laptop HDD, albeit a bit chunkier but with a bright and clear LCD Menu, a plus for tired eyes. (NOTE: Once you set the default on the LCD Menu during the first boot, use the BACK key to "Start Erasing." There's NO separate "start" button. After the first boot, it's a matter of booting the device, the "default" created with the first boot appears, then, press ENTER button to start erasing. One more thing, Erasure "estimate" varies from kitchen timer, but who cares. IT WORKS!!!)

Hard drive eraser
The setup to erase data of a hard drive is not very complicated when using this eraser. The processing time is quite long but not intolerable. I used it to erase four hard drives. I had to take out the hard drive in order to erase the data in 3 of the computers. It was successful in erasing the data in three out of the four hard drives. There was an error when I did the fourth one and I was unable to correct the error. That hard drive was the oldest which I bought over ten years ago.

Bad Product - Doesn't Work
Quite simply, it doesn't work. It's expensive and it is completely worthless. Don't buy it unless you are looking for a rather unattractive paperweight.

No text on screen
Bought one of these a couple years ago and was just about to wipe my 12th drive and the screen started getting spotty and letters were missing and now the screen is a blank and blue. I have no idea what it is doing if anything. Now useless. Worked great for the first 11 hard drives though.

Doesn't work for older drives
I bought this to wipe a stack of about 30 PATA drives I've been collecting over the years as I upgraded computers. It worked fine on newer drives, but I couldn't get it to recognize any drive smaller than 320GB. I have a dozen IDE drives left varying in size from 60MB to 200GB, and it won't erase any of them. It just says 'searching for drive.'

Fast and Effective Hard Drive Eraser
I purchased the older Wiebetech drive Erazer several years ago and while it was effective it was very slow and only worked on ATA drives. This new model is very fast and can earase both ATA and SATA drives. It is a quality product and very effective with a several erase options depending on the safety you want.

Such a valuable tool for the techie!!
For years, I've struggled with drive erasure needs. I finally saw a review for top drive cleaners in a ComputerWorld article and this one stood out. After debating paying for this device, versus using freeware, I decided to Go Pro! I haven't regretted it! It took a little while to figure out how to configure it, but once I got it going, I've reduced my pile of old drives and cleared them all. The drives I didn't need I sold with confidence. The drives I kept behaving like 'new' drives. Very pleased!!
