I see two answers, are the designs painted or stickers? If they are stickers, does the heat cause them to fall off? Does the paint melt?

Depends on what model it is. Usually if it's carved it will say something along the lines of "deep carved" or "360 deep carved" or something like that. Now "etched" isn't carved, it's more of a chemical rendering of an image, and the quality is in between that of a carving and sticker but way better than a sticker. Also carving will usually be in an "Armor" case, which is thicker than a regular Zippo case. Hope that helps!

Are these lighters engravable? I have engraved brushed-finished zippos before at my personalization store but I'm unsure of the finish on these.

The only engraving we do on matte finished lighters is laser engraving.
