Does this chair’s wheels move easily on carpet

Not if it is a quality thick carpet with underlay. We have bought a plastic chair mat because the chair is superb.

are the wheels lockable?

Wheels are not lockable. However they move freely when on the move and chair holds position well whilst stationary.

Does the top 'cushion' detach from the seat?

Hi, the padding is attached to the seat. It does not come off.
