Excellent product that cuts your work time in half or more. Stick to the fine grade for most situations unless you have severe contamination as the more aggressive grade can induce marring. Be sure to "break in" the entire surface area of this towel by using it on your windows first with some clay lube. This will break the film on it and it will be ready for use on your paint. This only has to be done (broken in) one time. If you drop it simply wash it off under some lukewarm water, wring it out, and go back to claying.

Finally ... Smooth paint!
I am very much an amateur when it comes to car detailing. Mostly I just wash my cars about twice a month and wax a couple times a year. Nothing fancy, just whatever I can do without any fancy tools to keep the car clean and protected. After commuting through a construction zone (highway resurfacing) for 8 weeks I noticed the paint was getting very rough as it picked up debris from the construction. Mostly asphalt deposits, with some other nasty stuff for good measure. No amount of washing helped so I did some research that pointed me at clay. Well, I had never used clay before and the process seemed rather time consuming and risky. But then I stumbled upon the Speedy Surface Prep towel! The research I did revealed a mixed bag of results, but I figured "what the heck" and ordered one because it seemed to be easier to use and less risky than traditional clay. Before using it I read the instructions on the box, which recommend breaking in the towel on glass before using it on the paint. It is also necessary to use a lubricant so the towel glides easily across the paint. I used a quick detailer which worked just fine. The trick with this product is to let it do the work ... very little pressure is required. Very literally, you let the towel glide across the paint and it does all the work for you. Just use straight lines, no circular motion. If the towel is dropped just hose it off to clean it up and you are good to go.Wow. I was giggling like a school girl while I was using it as the paint went from rough and ugly to smooth as glass and shiny. After the paint was clean, I applied a good coat of wax. The car looked great and I was very happy with the results.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This thing is amazing! Goodbye, clay bar!
I had stain overspray all over a brand new car's paint job (car was 1 week old!). I first used the Meguiar's clay bar, which was getting rid of the stain, but at a painfully slow pace. Not wanting to use an aggressive clay, I tried this fine grade prep towel after reading some reviews. All I can say is WOW! It removes the stain almost effortlessly, and the stain had been baking onto the paint in 90F weather for several days! It's kind of hard to tell when the towel is dirty enough to rinse by looking at it (versus a lighter colored clay), but you can tell it's dirty when it starts sticking to the car's surface at the end of each stroke and leaves little gray marks (that wipe off with a towel). At that point, rinse with warm water (no soap) and it will dry quickly, ready to be used again.I saw a neat idea in a YouTube video where the guy used a magic marker to write a number, 1 through 4, on the back side of each of the four corners. He then folds the towel into fourths. When it starts getting dirty, he uses another fourth of the towel. The numbers help you keep track of which fourth of the towel you already used. When you've used all four fourths of the towel, rinse it out and use it again. I've heard it can be used up to 100X, so well worth the money. Saves your back and arm muscles also!

The product works as expected BUT it takes a few bad moments to know exactly what not to do.If there is a mark/tree sap/hardened piece of whatever on the surface of your car, DO NOT attempt to pick at it with your fingernail through the rubber cloth. This will cause the rubber to come off and when that happens its TOUGH to get off your car. I'd stick with the clay bars. Overpriced--and the rubber material shouldn't come off the towel that easily. I have no idea why this is rated so highly. Again, stick with the bars.

This Towel Is Like Magic.
This towel is like magic... I had some stucco work done on my home and with the breeze overspray landed on my cars paint, it was really rough to the touch and almost felt like sand paper. I actually left it like that for a few months, washed the car regularly but the over spray never came off and continued to ruin the paint finish. I asked a friend who owns a body shop what he recommended and he said to 1st try this towel, honestly when he said that and I saw the towel I was very skeptical thinking there was no way this towel would make any difference to the condition of my paint with the overspray.Well... I used the towel and it was literally like magic, I could not believe how it not only completely removed all the overspray but actually cleaned the paint from any other contaminants. I used it on the whole car, then a real quick wax job and the car looked like new and I now swear by these towels... I was ready to spend a lot of money to have the paint fixed but this towel was all it took and the cost was nothing compared to what I would have spent to have it professionally detailed.

Still working after 3 years
I've had this clay towel for almost 3 years now. I've used it only a handful of times but man what a time saver. I just ran this over my work van and even though I thought I had it cleaned up well this proved me wrong. This removed a lot of stuff my regular washing could not. I could feel the difference night and day. I've used clay before with great results but if you are on the fence and enjoy detailing cars try this out. If you use it properly you wont regret it. Easier to use than clay and less likely to drop on the ground. If you do drop it it can be cleaned up and used again. I know nano and some other companies make a similar product but when I feel this is worn out I know I will be buying another.
