Yes, I used a boss elite, but it should work with pretty much anything.

Is it plug and play with the hvac controls or does it have to be flashed ?

Can I use this on 2013 F150 xl?

I believe it will work if you have the 4.3 inch oem screen, that is what I had in my 2014 and this worked

Is the screen adjustable? Could be adjusted to be on top and bottom as the picture shows?

Yes it comes with 2 face plates so that you can have the head unit on top or on the bottom
