I'm always on the lookout for products for hearing assistance, and had never seen this pair marketed to the hearing loss community, unless you consider motorcyclists to be part of that community. I used the receiver with a neckloop and T-coils in hearing aids, since I am unable to use earbuds, which require taking the hearing aids out. That setup worked well for me,although the signal level delivered by the receiver to the neckloop was marginal, and the level control seemed clumsy.Pairing and connecting went fairly smoothly, although it seemed I had to repeat the process to succeed sometimes. Connection seemed pretty solid to around 20 feet, and probably would make the specified 30 feet under ideal conditions. Battery life seemed adequate, although I didn't run a real test.The transmitter pairs with the receiver when in the A mode, and seems to provide good bandwidth, to at least 14kHz by a crude test. I found that the transmitter in the B mode would connect to a PC or smartphone, but with bandwidth limited to about 4kHz. Alead Tech Support said this is a matter of the HandsFree profile. I was pleasantly surprised to get answers from Tech Support to several questions fairly quickly.In short, the combo can provide wireless hearing assistance at a significantly lower cost that so-called FM systems. It may also be useful for hearing assistance in small theater, as the microphone may be small enough for actors to conceal in the costume.
