Microphones Vlogger Kit Universal Edition

I bought this as I was videoing some rehearsals and the performance for a local choir. Being Rode I thought that this would be well worth the outlay, and after a quick test of recording with and without the external mic there was a noticeable improvement in clarity of quality of the sound. I used it to record some of the practise and rehearsal building up to the concert and the concert itself, during the interval I swapped phones over and set off recording again. Unfortunately when I have come to edit the clips there is a sound issue. It's not permanent or regular, but at various parts of the recording the sound suddenly becomes very distored and digital sounding, after a minue or two it goes back to normal. I though it might be the mic being overloaded as the Choir can go from whisper quiet to big punch in the chest but it didn't only happen in the loud bits. So I have no idea, when it's working it is really nice, I have wondered of it could have been interference from a phone or something else in the area. I'm back out on Saturday for another event so I will try again. The wind proofing mic cover works excellently well and the light, although I haven't used it yet, is certainly bright enough to dazzle (as ever looking into it when turning it on!) and can be changed and adjusted to suit also a small selection of colour filters for it to suit your needs. A nice kite, just hoping that they sound issue was a one off.

The VideoMicro is a great little mic, the tripod / handle is sturdy and a handy size with a decent integrated ball head and works well in both modes, and the phone clamp is nice and solid and holds the phone securely. The light works great and battery life is reasonable, although unless you want to look like a rabbit in headlights in all of your videos you may want to use it sparingly.

Good quality kit. Tripod isn’t up to the job in terms of two different settings, but comfortable in hand. Would recommend for the price.

I thought buying a Røde microphone was a no brainer but I have to say the mic is just completely awful. It doesn't record sound on some videos and then when it does record it hisses and distorts throughout. I'm using it with a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra so it's not as if the phone itself isn't powerful enough to run it. I've more or less paid £65 for a selfie stick and a light. Avoid.

I'm glad that it's basically plug and use on my Samsung phone. Very easy to setup and it works well on both sound and video recordings. There is no gain control though, which means it automatically adjust the input volume (with compression perhaps) to prevent clipping. The sound quality is significantly better than the internal microphone. Just notice that it is mono, not stereo, so it is perfect for one voice or instrument, but not for many instruments playing together. I like the light with color filter, and the clamp works well on tripod.

Great as usally from RODE top quality and great sound comes in very handy with my Cage.

Doesnt like certain phones

This works very well indeed on my android Google pixel 3a. I've noticed some of the negative reviews are from IPhone owners. Sound quality from the mic is great. I am not easily pleased on this front but very impressed. With my phone you do have to select the mic manually while in the camera app but this is a simple process. The light is surprisingly powerful for its size (the filters included with the kit are a must, otherwise it will blind you!) Tripod is a trifle flimsy but made up for by how light weight this is (primary design is for user to hold it so this works well as not too heavy).

El Kit es de muy buena calidad en el material, super resistente. El único problema que tuve es que al conectarlo a mi computadora, como esta tiene una entrada unificada para audio y micrófono , al conectar el micrófono a la computadora lo detecta como si fueran audífonos, entonces tuve que comprar un adaptador para dividir la señal y me de detectara como micrófono.

this is a great kit BUT know that you can't have a case on your phone and use the mic so it's pointless. I have a $1500 phone and there's no way I'm not keeping the case on it just so I can film. I ended up returning it.

A family member asked me to video her wedding. I'm not a videographer, but I know the iPhone (12 Pro) takes great-quality video, especially during the day. I did my research and decided on this unit. I videoed the 40-minute wedding in one take, and afterward checked the video, specifically for the sound. It was perfect. The phone was about 4 metres away on a tripod, and the Dead Cat (fluffy cover) was on. It was shot outside, although it wasn't that windy. Excellent purchase and I thoroughly recommend it.

J'avais lu que le trépied était de qualité moyenne , je tiens a dire que non , pour en avoir commandé sur wish celui là est un très bon trépied, les matériaux ne sont pas du premier prix. Pour l'attache du téléphone j'ai réussi a faire tenir dedans un iphone 14 pro max. J'ai également lu que la qualité de la petite lampe était médiocre , elle a plusieurs intensité et éclaire énormément pour la taille de cette dernière. Je suis très surpris et satisfait. C'est dommage je ne vois pas d'indicateur pour la recharge. Pour le micro j'attends toujours l'adaptateur iPhone donc je n'ai pas testé , si vous ne lisez pas d'avis modifié sur ce message après le 20 juin 2023 c'est que le micro est juste génial !
