Dorfman PacificDHC Outdoor Men’s 1 Piece Big Brim Boonie Hat with Nylon Chin Cord

This is the 3rd Dorfman hat I have purchased for my family. We all love them as our most functional, comfortable, cool, tough hats that we own. At the beach, in the ocean, sitting at or in the the pool, going hiking, and doing yard work is all better because of this hat. It provides excellent sun protection without getting your head too hot. I like to soak mine in ice water and then wring it out a bit before I head out to work in the garden during the summer. After years of use, the hats barely even look used. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about these hats. We all absolutely love ours. I posted a pic of mine after around 4 years of use.

This hat, made in Srilanka, NOT China, is well made and does a good job of keeping the sun off one's head/face/neck while gardening, mowing the grass, or drinking a beer (You can't mow all the time now, can you?). You are able to adjust the brim to make your own statement; I choose to turn my side and front brims at 90-degree angles so I can dream I'm Crocodile Dundee. . . or my Uncle Mort. It is not "The goofy-looking" hat I had expected. The adjustable head size makes it a comfortable fit, and the chin draw string saves you from long, embarassing hat chases, particularly if you live in the Western Willamette Valley of Oregon where the southwest wind has it's way every evening. I have washed it, and it retains it's shape and color well. I like this hat.

It got the job done! My husband is bald and needed something to protect his head on our beach vacation. He has a very large head and it was snug, but fit. Did like that there wasn’t mesh around the perimeter like many other similar hats, as he would’ve gotten sun burned through the little perforations. Didn’t feel particularly nice or stylish, but it was also inexpensive and functional. Would prob buy again as it could get wet, held up in the wind and kept the sun off his face and neck.

I bought this hat for a friend who had a severe facial accident and felt very self concious in public. The brim is wide and floppy enough so that she feels quite comfortable when she wears it. We are both impressed with the quality and texture of the material and the whole structure of the hat. This is now becoming her hat of choice when working in the yard and when fishing. I would love to get one for myself, but I'm not what you would call a hat person. Plainly speaking I just don't look good in any type of hat. If you like hats and find yourself in the market, this is a must try. It doesn't seem to get dirty, wrinkle or shrink. Awesome hat!

I bought this hat to provide shade for my face during hikes. The hat met all of my expectations. It's lightweight, can be easily folded to fit into a small space within a suitcase or backpack, maintains its color, does not blow off during high winds, and does a remarkable job of shedding raindrops without getting soaked. The hat is also machine-washable.I do offer one caution. Do NOT dry this hat under medium or high heat, as the hat will shrink enough to become a bit too tight, assuming its fit was ideal before drying. I'm not taking off any stars from my rating, as I should have known better than to dry a nylon-based hat on any dry setting greater than low.

The page for this product was confusing because it showed two different styles of hat: one with mesh side vents and the other solid. I ordered the solid hat which has a chin strap (a feature I wanted) even though a chin strap is not shown in the picture. There were some complaints that the hat was green. I ordered "Khaki" instead of "Light Olive Green" and received a Khaki hat. The large size fits my head (23 inches) perfectly. The brim is about 3 inches wide with dark green fabric underneath. I didn't see these features mentioned in the description of this hat.

The color has a slight greenish hue to it, although it is mostly tan. I measured my head and the hat fits really well (large). Will be great for keeping the sun off my neck and shoulders. Bought it mostly for treading water in the pool with a mosquito head net over top. I have a hard time finding women's hats that fit b/c I'm 5'11" so this worked really well and wasn't too manly looking. The rims are getting a bit "floppy" over time so it's not working as well with the bug net to keep the net off my face, but it's still a good hat.

It was a little snug for XXL.I removed 1/2 the sweat band and it fits great.For a 100% nylon hat, it breathes very well. I have other nylon hats that get hot very quickly on simple walks.
