Classic Jazz

As my husband is a jazz aficionado, it has long been my hope to educate myself in this genre. Through the years of listening with him, I have picked up some rudimentary knowledge of jazz and its premier practitioners (past and present). However, this collection has afforded me a master's class in "Classic Jazz". It contains a vast and varied representation of the earliest development of jazz. Great artists included here are: Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk, Dexter Gordon, and numerous others. Most significantly, the majority of the selections are the signature songs of these jazz luminaries. It would have been difficult and expensive to compile each of these selections singly. If you are "into jazz" or just an ecletic music lover, this should be a part of your music library.

I'm going to use the same review for basically four purchases I made. In buying selections like this one, I like being able to hear a different type or style of jazz played by numerous different artists. That being the case, there will be some selections that I do not like, or artists that don't appeal to me that much. The quality of the product was great as was the delivery time. I would recommend this purchase to anyone.

This was purchased for a birthday gift, which I have not given to the birthday boy as of yet. But he is a great jazz fan so I'm sure he is going to love it!!

It is Ok as background music but like most albums made up of remakes of various artists it doesnt have a clean, sharp sound. I also wasnt thrilled with the renditions of some of my favorite songs..like Summertime. However, for someone just getting into jazz it gives them a variety of sounds and artists to get acquainted with.

I drive a cab in NYC, and this album has paid for itself already in extra tips from the people who LOVE jazz late at night during the ride !!!.... and if you drive a taxi or limo, 'invest' in Jazz futures.. NOW !! ;)

This set is real old-school. If you like old-school music like I do then you'll really enjoy this jazz set. Some of the original big guns in jazz music are on this set. A set of original jazz music and musicians well put together and well mastered.

I picked this out for my granddaughter to introduce her to the beginning artists in the jazz world. I'msure she will enjoy it.

The vast selection of musical artist is great, it'a a must have for anyone's collection...
