Adventure kayaking fun
Just got back from kayaking the Rio Grande through the Santa Elena Canyon in a pair of these. AND I FRIGGING LOVED IT. Here's why: 1. These kayaks assemble and inflate very quickly - less than 5 minutes. 2. Perfect size - I'm 6' 2", 185lbs, and I had some room to spare. Plus they aren't that heavy and much easier to travel with than a hard body. 3. Easy to pack - each kayak carried a tent, an extra paddle, the pump, a day bag w/ food, 3L water bladder, a filled dry sack hooked to float behind, an extra Class I PFD, river shoes, and a few beers ;) 4. Highly responsive manuevering - I was able to paddle quickly through rough rapids, turn on a dime, paddle backwards, and slide right into a muddy bank landing. 5. A trick I learned when I got sucked in between 2 boulders less than 3ft apart - if you lean back hard on the back rest and push your feet down on the foot rest, you will pick up off your butt, stretch the kayak length ways, and slide through tight spots or over shallow waters. 6. After the expensive paddle I bought to replace the included paddle, which is universally trashed in these reviews, BROKE in the rapid immediately before the biggest rapid, I was forced to use the included paddle. And it worked great! It wasnt as comfortable and did give me a blister or two, but heck - it saved my life when I wrote it off. 7. Easy to dry - remove the bladder from the cover slip and hang both out to dry for a day. I really cant come up with a single con for this product. It has exceeded my expectations and held up to some real abuse. I'll update this review if it ever fails me, but I really doubt it ever will.

Great one person inflatable kayak
Great blow up kayak, sturdy, lightweight....it only takes minutes to inflate...I used it on an inland lake, very stable and comfortable...it doesn't have quite the glide as a regular plastic recreational kayak, but it does move easily through the water

Best kayak for the cost! Hands down!
We are absolutely in LOVE with these little kayaks. In fact, we liked them so much we traded in our tandem for two more so we now have four of the Sevylor K5 kayaks and couldn’t be happier. A few tips before you start (wish someone had told us lol) 1: Immediately get new paddles. 3/4 of our paddles broke within minutes of the first trip on the water. It was NOT fun getting back with tiny hand oars. Also, the blisters they gave were REAL! 😩 Don’t even attempt it. I promise. 2. The skeg makes the boat turn in circles. No it’s not your imagination. Someone else said they cut them off with a kitchen knife and that’s my next chore for these also. 3. Make sure you have them blown up enough. This is super important. My oldest daughter didn’t have hers blown up enough and ended up looking like a bad scene from the titanic by the time we got back to dock 😂😂😂 4. Make sure you clean them and dry them before you fold them back up for storage. This was initially very hard. We ended up piling them in the trunk and bringing them back home to do and it was still very cumbersome. Someone else mentioned separating the belly from the bag and that helped tremendously! 5. Huge drawback!!!!! Be careful when lining up the seat with the kayak. The backpack (lime green) turns into your actual seat. So because the Velcro ripped halfway through the trip (this Velcro secures the seat to the kayak) so it caused one strap in two separate boats to snap and break permanently so those seats will no longer snap in with the kayak. This is the biggest upset for us! I’m not sure how they will function without the seats being secured to the kayak at all but I will update after we try again. Major bonuses: they blow up SO fast and easily. They really do fold into a backpack and even my 12 year old can carry his pack through the woods to the dock. The actual kayak had lots of room on board. Leg room for me was mediocre and a bit rough due to bad knees and not much ability to change position. This only bothered those of us with bad knees lol. I gave it a 4 star because we love them so much but to be fair with all of the broken parts and paddles I would give it a solid 3. We still will make do with them but these are major things to be considered.

Limited use-cases
This is the third inflatable kayak I've owned. It's also the most I paid for one, and the worst of the 3 I've had. To start with the pros: * It's fast to set up * Very comfortable while allowing a variety of seating preferences. * The storage compartment doubles as a cooler * Drain ports are easy to use * Should be able to handle some pretty rough waters well * Backpack feature opens this to more adventurous trips * Rides pretty straight for an inflatable * The hand pump blows up on both the push and pull, which makes a big difference in how quickly you can get it on the water. A lot of that sounds pretty good, but here's what brought the score down: * The cloth exterior gets wet very easily, and stays wet. I tried to spray it with something to make it waterproof, which hardly helps at all. * The paddles are practically useless. * While the backpack feature is nice, it's way too much of a hassle if you fold it back up right after getting out of the water, which to me, defeats the purpose of it being a backpack. * The valves, while not bad, are not as good as the Boston valves that some other inflatables use. * The biggest con is how slow this is. I can't figure out why this is so slow compared to others I've used.

A kayak you can take literally anywhere!!
I am in loveeeee with this kayak!! Totally worth it. I have been to so many cool places with it. I've been stopped and asked my reoccurring favorite "is your kayak on your back?" I am 5'4 and weight 140 and fit in it perfect, super comfy. It's like your in a big floaty. I love the head rest. I'll paddle out and just lay back and relax. It is super easy to pump up inflating and deflating take 10 min or less to do, super easy and quick. From backpack to kayak and kayak to backpack it is super easy to unfold or fold back up. You will definately get a nice workout with this backpack, but totally worth it to be able to hike and kayak in cool places. I have tried it in a couple different water settings and had success in all. It is very stable surprisingly with it being inflatable. The other reviews were right about the paddle. It's not terrible but you'll probably need a new one. I just went to dicks and bought one for like $40 bucks and it still fits into the sides of the backpack. I love this kayak I recommend it to everyone who asks as well as potential buyers. The ability to transform and take it or store it anywhere is what sold me and using the kayak after purchasing it solidified that I made a good investment.

Love it but listing cons
As an inflatable kayak, it works great. I have 4 kayaks and this is my "solo lazy" kayak. It maneuvers fairly easy in the water. Compared to my first kayak, a cheap kayak I bought at a local sporting good store, this inflatable is far better but of course it doesn't compare at all to my much more expensive kayak. I love this kayak for going out on the lake solo but I'm going to list the cons. The seat is uncomfortable, so I stopped using it. Without the seat, it's very comfortable and I usually find a secluded spot and just lay down. The inflatable backrest serves as a great pillow and I'm able to slowly paddle laying down while enjoying the breeze and the birds. (I'm 5'3 and I fit quite well in a lying position.) There is one air valve on the right that I have accidently opened twice and it started deflating. I have since learned to slap some duct tape on it before I head out now. I haven't learned to fold it back up for storage properly but in all fairness, I didn't take the time to learn. I just fold it up and go. It deflates quickly and is easy to clean. The pump works fine but I bought an electric pump so I don't use the pump that it came with it. Now to the the paddle, it's junk. Take it straight to the garbage can where it belongs. There are too many flaws on the paddle to mention. I realize I listed all the cons but I still love this kayak for lazy lake days. It's easy to transport, inflate and deflate. It's convenient. I just throw it in the back and drive. When I'm out on the water, it often feels like I'm on an air mattress and I have been known to fall asleep. It is an inflatable so you have to compare it to other inflatables. I wouldn't use it for more serious kayaking days. It is sturdy though. Once, I got stuck on rocks and I had to get out and drag it across the rocks. Another time, I was kayaking past some fallen trees and I was worried about the branches scraping against the kayak. The kayak stood up just fine, it's very durable.

Reasonable Quality, Good Price, Good for Beginners (Poor Customer Service)
Review update 7-6-2022 All the same statements I made previously still stand with the exception that I cannot recommend the purchase of this kayak based on Sevylor/Coleman's customer service. On my second use of the product one of the plastic buckles that secures the seat and provides seat adjustment broke. Since the buckle was sewn into the strap, it could not be easily replaced. I contacted customer service to see what could be done. The response basically said that they had no replacement parts for this product and sorry, you're out of luck. Nothing whatsoever was offered to keep a happy customer. Partial refund, credit to other products, nothing... Long story short, I was able to engineer a better than new solution (with no sewing) that took about an hour and $25.00 USD. So like I said, all the information I provided below is still valid, but customer service has caused me to withdraw my recommendation of the product. Buy it only if you're handy with fixing things. Oh, and additionally when I tried to contact customer service a 2nd time (after their response), their mail box was full and couldn't accept more emails. I tried 3 more time to contact them with the same result. I live I the Sacramento, CA area and we have a lot of places to play on the water. I have wanted to get out on the water for years and finally got more serious about finding something to help me do that. I've been out in this kayak multiple times now on the flat water of a reservoir and have had a blast every time. Bottom-line, I would recommend this kayak for beginners (which I am), good price, convenience of storage, portability and reasonably durable quality. Now for the pros and cons: Pros: -Very portable, folds up easily and stores in its own backpack -Sturdy feel, the inflation chambers live inside a fabric (top) and heavy weight plastic (hull) shell -Nice size cockpit (although I wouldn't recommend for folks bigger and taller than me (5"7", 175 lbs) -Generous zippered storage behind cockpit/seat -Zip in splash and chill guard so you can have a closed cockpit or open cockpit -Light weight (a little over 30 lbs.) but seems durable -Quick to inflate with included pump (unload from car to ready for the water in less than 10 minutes -VERY comfortable, soft on the tush Cons: -Plastic "D" rings. Two of mine broke right away. Replaced them with Stainless S-Biners and now no issue -Plastic buckles for seat adjustment. One of mine broke the first time I tried to adjust the seat. And unfortunately its a sewn on buckle so I'm not even sure how to replace without a big production. I'm in contact with the manufacturer now to see if they have a solution. -Slow in the water (which seems to be a common issue with less expensive inflatables) -Non-removable skeg which means it folds to the hull when you put it in the backpack and doesn't ever hang completely straight. I do think it affects the kayak's ability to track. -The included oar is terrible due to the placement of the tightening mechanisms. It is difficult to find a hand position that is comfortable and avoids blisters. Bought another paddle almost right away. All in all if you want reasonable quality at a bargain price and you don't know if kayaking is for you, this kayak might be a good starter..

Skeptic turned believer
I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical. I'll start with the cons first. Paddle isn't the most comfortable, but it's useable. I ordered a better paddle. Since it's an inflatable, it is extremely buoyant, causing it to sit on top of the water, which doesn't cut through the water the same as a lower sitting hard shell. For longer trips, a hard shell kayak is probably preferred. However, for an inflatable, it cuts though the water very well due to it's shape. Now for the pros- Much better quality build than what I expected. I've had several people stop me and ask me about it. It's quite rigid. I've scraped some barnacle covered rocks and other sketchy stuff and didn't even stress. It's a series of bladders inside a durable outer covering. The bottom of it is thick, really thick. Because it's inflatable it's crazy comfortable. I could paddle all day in it. Actually, I have paddled all day in it. I chose this because I didn't want to use a rack on my new car, nor did I want to go on a long road trip with a kayak on my roof. This kayak actually is easy to set up and break down. Folds up nice and goes in the trunk with plenty of room to spare. I live in Central Florida, and there's all kinds of waterways to explore, both salt water, and fresh. I've been in both, and my kayak is still looking great. I'm happy to say this thing has really impressed me. Hope if you get one, you'll love yours like I love mine.
