Can i apply on marble table to protect stain?

Let me get this straight. There is a "stain" on your marble table and you want to protect it?? Okay? Varathane Polyurethane oil base finish is made SPECIFICALLY FOR WOOD. That should be enough information to understand this product is not for marble!! I suggest you visit Youtube, key in "How to refinish a marble table" or "How to restore and polish marble." Plus you will get instructions on how to "remove" stains...just in case you are interested. Also, you will be shown the proper products that are safely used for marble.

What do i use for thinning an clean up?

Just plain old mineral spirits. Works beautifully.

Can i use this over painted countertops? Watched a YouTube video on how to do it but this is not the same polyurethane?

Polyurethane is Polyurethane or if not then it's false marketing/advertising ! So yes you can use this on many different applications but also this stuff is usually very thick so test it on something other to get use to its texture. Rick

Can this work in press wood???

I used it on some shelves in some kitchen cabinets that were pressed wood. So far, it has done well.
