What I got was a great utility piece with a quality handle and sheath
For the price, I was expecting some cheap knock off version of the higher priced versions of apparently the same Ulu, seen here on Amazon. What I got was a great utility piece with a quality handle and sheath. It could use a good sharpening, but so far it works wonderfully in the kitchen. Cutting firm cured meats with a normal knife is a strain on the fingers and wrist, but this Ulu does it with ease, since you're sawing straight down through the cut.I'm not crazy about the crescent-shaped finger gap between the blade and the handle. While it looks nice and cuts down on the weight, it actually is a detriment to the control of the blade. Normally, when using other Ulus, the spine of the handle rests on the pad of my thumb and my fingers extend down the flat of the blade when cutting. With the gap, that solid surface isn't there, so the knife can wobble a bit. I can adjust my grip and extend the fingertips down to reach past the gap, but it's a little awkward. Nothing that can't be overcome with a little usage time, and people new to Ulus won't notice the difference. It's just that you're rarely gripping the handle with your fingers around it (as you would a normal kitchen knife) if you want any firm control on your cut.Still, I'm very happy with this Ulu. I've owned a few, and this one is near perfect and an incredible deal for the price.

RAZOR SHARP!
I own two designs of this knife, and I absolutely love them. If you use one in public people get a little scared, but they are amazing for so many uses. The literally only thing that isn't perfect about these is that the sheath has a tendency to let one tip of the blade stick out just a tiny bit on occasion. It is extremely sharp, so that is enough to clip yourself and get a nice cut. That's a testament to just how sharp these babies are. If the flap of the sheath was a bit tighter this wouldn't happen. Some of the sheathes clasp a little tighter than others, random chance.

Solid
The media could not be loaded. Solid build and good materials. Not the sharpest knife in the world but it can be sharpened. Definitely looking forward to using in the kitchen.

Great Utility Ulu
wasn't razor sharp when i got it but it sharpened easily and seems to hold an edge well. Processed a lot of fish with this and no complaints. It is built much better for actual use than a lot of other ulus I've seen that seem to be more decorative.

Well made and nice looking item. Very handy for food preparation
This device is very useful for food preparation. One feature that I like is the leather case. This allows you to store the ulu in a drawer without dulling the blade or cutting your fingers when searching for it. I don’t recommend washing it in the dishwasher. It arrived very sharp.

Good practical tool
This is a good practical tool if you use an Ulu regularly. It is not artwork from the Knifemakers Guild. I cut up a couple of roasts to stew meat and the factory edge was adequate, but I will sharpen it better. The bone handle is bleached white and smooth, I stained the bone with brown Old English furniture scratch remover and the bone took a pleasant mottled light brown. Blade surface finish is about 300 grit and even. The blade is not a uni-face like many Ulus are, you sharpen this one from both sides. The carry case is thick, sturdy, and well made to protect you for confident safe carry in the field. I have skinned and quartered large animals using an Ulu. This one will work well for that and look good worn on your belt.

Three Stars
So dull. And very hard to sharpen. In fact, I'm not happy with it at all.
