Not bad.......
Gemma, Alex, Ainsley and Laylen cannot catch a break in this book after the last series. They thought they were safe, but nothing is further from the truth. If it's not the get queen trying to cross over to the human world, it's Helena trying for world domination. Sometimes you just need to say......enough.These are only kids and the story has been going on top long. Maybe I am just tired.Read on my friends

Strange words used as verbs
I chose this rating because the premise of the story was interesting, but theexecution suffered from lack of knowledge about the English language. The strangest words were thrown in helter-skelter as verbs throughoutthe book. I had to stop reading several times to laughingly quote from the bookto my husband, who chuckled along with me. Just a few samples below. "A huff of toxic smoke inhales my lungs". (Gemma) "The cage gripes, slanting forward, and I'm flung against the door. Her hands blunder, but she hitches the cage". (Gemma with Aislin, trapped in the Fey Realm). "Birds flurry from the trees and sprites heap out of the house, charging across the lawn. (One of several encounters with sprites)"My eyes never waver from him, but confusion hordes my head". (Believe me, after reading that, I know just how she feels!)

Spin Off Awesomeness
Whoa. If you guys thought that the Fallen Star Series was good, you're in for one of the best surprises of your life!I'm now hopelessly addicted to Sorensen's story-telling. She strings you along with suspense, mystery, romance, and action, forcing you to continue reading to uncover what'll happen next. This novel has risen even more questions in this stewing brain of mine, and just wow. We start to see romantic tension, and Gemma starts to succumb to The Lost Soul that has invaded her.Alex, Nicholas, and Laylen all fascinate me, but I've gotta say that Alex is my favorite. His undying devotion to Gemma takes my breath away! I was literally so moved that my eyes stung with tears. And there was quite a bit of humor that got me chuckling in this book, too.The imagination and planning that goes behind a series like this astounds and inspires me! There's so much going on, and so many people who all have their own secrets, and I have a feeling I'm in for a long, fun ride with this series.I'm liking the possessed Gemma, too. I feel like - in a way - these are her repressed feelings. The desire, the hatred, the thirst for power. Like Helena is her polar opposite or something. My stomach was churning just by reading about the things she did while under Helena's influence. And the menacing Laylen. Oh, how you make my heart flutter! Why do I always fall for the bad guys? *Sigh*Loved this! Will definitely be looking out for the next one! ;)

Just as good as the fallen star series!!!
I have read books where authors try to bring back characters or plot lines after the series is completed. Usually they suck. It is generally an attempt to squeeze more out of a series, when there really is nothing left. That is NOT the case here. I was worried when I started this book that it would not be very good. I was skeptical, but decided to read it because I have fallen (haha!) in love with Jessica's books. I was astounded by how good this book was! It did not seem like it was forced or like the author was just trying to strech a good series. This was great! This book was just as good as the Fallen Star Series! I enjoyed every second of it. I read it in like 2 days which is saying a lot since I have 3 kids to take care of. I love how she deals with Gemma and the Queen of the Afterlife. You do not even realize what is going on until the book is like 3/4 of the way done. Readers are so focused on Alex that they never think about what is happening to Gemma. The way the Queen of the Afterlife/Gemma scenes go, it could have ended up confusing or cheesy, but not at all. The same goes for what happens to Laylen. You don't expect it. This could have been a confusing part of the book, but Jessica makes it completely understandable and unexpected! This is a great book! The only problem was that the end of the book leaves you hanging waiting for the next book. That is OK, but the second book in the series isn't out yet! I cannot wait to see what happens to Gemma and Laylen. Plus Jessica introduced an all new character- Evan. I really want to read more of this now! I don't want to wait. Thank you Jessica for a wonderful series and a seriously cool spinoff!

Heart-throb
Another amazing addition to the story of Gemma Lucas and Alex Avery. Entry of steamy moments to keep your heart pounding yet lot's of action and drama. And just when you thought the story couldn't get any better, it did. With the star finally gone the two love birds are free to live happily ever after with one another, or so they thought. Not only do they have a vengeful queen of the Afterlife following their every move but now they have Luna the Empress of the fey waiting for Aislin to follow through on her promise. When something happens to Annabella ruler over the Essences who will stop Helena from getting the soul of one very special Gemma Lucas? And more importantly, what's to become of Alex?

Paranormal Love Story
I have read all the Fallen Star and book of the Fallen Soul series. Haven't found out when next book comes out yet. This series is fairly good. I'm caught up in Gamma and Alex's story. The characters are easy to become attached to and the story is interesting. You can tell this is a YA story by the way it's written. There are grammatical errors and sometimes things don't make sense....contradictory to what author had previously said. Example would be Gamma gets in a Camaro with two other people in front seat and it says she's sitting on the console in the middle the two paragraphs later she's buckling her seat belt. I find that a lot through out all the books.

OMG, better than the first series!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!! - This is me jumping up and down as there is a follow up on The fallen star series. I found a bit of a change in the style of writing but it was an action packed book where there is always 2 or more things going on in which everyone is trying to be a hero. This book opens up new traits in each character. I mean, you have Alex, a guy who will do anything for Gemma but could he be hiding a secret that will ruin everything, or will his love for her be the death of them all. Then you have Gemma herself who is still finding new things about herself everyday. Everyone is trying to save her but could it be her fault that they're in this mess in the first place. Laylen, the gentle vampire who tried to keep out of trouble couldn't have been more in it, but will he fight or just give in to the evil inside of him leaving Aislin, the witch who has always cared for him to try to clear up the mess she can, only for it to go even more terribly wrong. In this book Nicholas shows some new colors and I am wondering if his trickster act was just that - an act, or whether he is still the Nicholas we will always remember. Cannot wait to read the next book. :)

Amy.
Just as good, if not better than the Fallen Star series! Even though the last book ended with a full conclusion, with Stephan and the death walkers dead, this has an even better storyline! I was so thrilled to see that even though the two main characters finally got together, there's still problems arising. The only issue I have is the fact that I don't have a clue when the following book is going to be published! I shall keep my eye out, but I hope I don't have to wait too long!

The Lost Soul
I loved the original fallen stars series and immideately bought this one. i have to admit i loved the first series more but this was not a dissapointment- the cliffhanger at the end left me anxious to read the unexistant prequel and i found the plot good. could maybe include a bit of change (ie: alex possessed, aislen "possessed" then gemma possessed) but when gemma did not return after alex pulled the trick i was pleasantly suprised it was not as predictable as it seemed. overall a good buy.
