Don't be afraid, look into the light!
I was skeptical at first. I needed a light in a basement hallway. Due to duct work I only had about a 1" depth to fit somethin into my drywall ceiling and figured there was nothing out there that would work so I put up with the dark hallway until I came across this light while researching recessed lighting for a different project. After looking it over and reading other reviews I figured I had nothing to lose, other than a few $$. Quality seemed well-built. The hardest part was figuring how to put the clips on. I was able to install it where I thought I could never have a light. Puts out amazing amount of light and the fit/finish in my ceiling looks great.Great product!

Great light.
Been installed for about a month now. They give off a lot of light, installed easily on some special drop ceiling tiles (thinner than normal), and don't get too hot.

The price is right & look look/work great after installation - watch out for a few quirks
This review is for the 9W, 3000K color temperature version of this product. I'll list a few quick pros and cons.PROS:1) Very thin & compact - I was able to fit these over existing junction boxes using just the thickness of the ceiling drywall.2) Provide plenty of light & pleasant color - I used two of them in an entry hallway, and it works perfectly. Make sure to compare light output in lumens compared with a conventional bulb or known quantity for your application.3) Can be used "stand-alone" in drywalled ceilings, without existing light cans or junction boxes.4) Though I measured specific consumption, they will use far less energy than the light fixtures they replaced.5) Nearly flush against the ceiling - slick & functional look when installed.6) Price - these are only marginally more expensive than a standalone high quality bulb.CONS:1) As others have noted, there is a separate "controller" or converter which will have to find a home in the ceiling or junction box.2) The electric leads (pigtails) from the "controller" box are short & "fine," be careful when stripping & connecting.3) There is a slight delay after the switch is thrown until the lights turn on, less than a second.4) The case/border has "S&G" printed on it in grey lettering which is visible after installation. Not obtrusive, but still unnecessary and annoying.5) The springs which hold the light in the ceiling require some force & finagling to install.6) Included instructions are minimal - may be more instructions online.

Nice lights if used in the right location.
These are very nice lights. The are super slim, only about 1/2" deep. A couple things to note (per code you will still need a junction box somewhere in the ceiling, also the connection to the light is not very long, so the junction box will need to be close to the light. I would also like to see a ground wire added to these. There is no ground to these lights, which isn't a huge deal, but I always like to install things per code, especially electrical items. This is mounted in a ACT drop ceiling, so they are easily accessible, not sure if I would be able to use these in a GWB ceiling, honestly I don't see how you even could on existing construction since you have to use a junction box to connect power. But in my case these worked perfectly. Nice light, very bright. I have had these for about 6 months now and no problems.
