I really like this product but it does use 9 volt batteries and it only lasts a couple of days. I can say my 4 dogs will not get on the couch. I just wish there was an off button so it does not run down the batteries while not in use. I would recommend using rechargeable batteries. I have to take out the 9 volt battery so it does not run the battery low to fast.

We used it on our counters for our German Shepherd, and it worked great. Unfortunately he could tell when they were up and stayed away. When I was cooking and moved them, he thought he was my sous chef and was right up there with me. It also didn't work to keep him out of rooms, he jumped right over it. So, I guess it depends on dogs. My trainer used it to keep dogs off of bow window bc they barked at everyone walking ny. Do not clean with a wet rag, even with battery out, your hand will tingle, but it won't shock you.

Honestly I never even seen the dog mess around and find out but my nephew accidently sat on it and boy did we have a laugh. Just laughed and laughed and laughed... Its a keeper!Oh, battery life sort of sucks.

Worked well at first. Now my cat just pays attention to where it's at and avoids it as much as possible. If it is on the counter she will avoid that part of the counter or try to walk around it. As soon as I remove it from the counter she knows that she can get back up there. So as a long-term training solution to teach her not to get on the counter not working for me.

One of three of the mats I ordered didn't work. The instructions are clear as to how to trouble shoot. Furthermore they refer to an on-off switch, there's no such thing. It's a button. Just saying that when the product doesn't work, it's hard to tell who or what is at fault!Frustrating!

I love this mat! It keeps my cats from climbing the Christmas tree or yanking on the lights/decorations. They do not want to go under the tree after one of them got zapped, the other one learned. The only thing I will say is it is not that wide but it gets the job done.

This item was defect. I spent over $20 on batteries attempting to figure out why the mat wasn't working. It would only work for the tone setting, and not the actual shock. Turns out it was defective and I wasted money on extra batteries. It was a pain trying to return. I had such difficulty with the seller; and amazon couldn't do much because its sold by a third party seller. Its been a week since i sent the item back, and I still haven't gotten my money back.

The only recommendation I could make is that I wish it was as wide as the couch cushions because once they know that that. Mat has some functions to it. They learn to go on either side of it
