Quality tool, Low cost
This tool came extremely sharp, however after a few minutes stropping it's now scarily sharp. Skives with ease even on very thin leather. The only modifcation I made was to sand the handle flatter on the side that makes contact with the leather/cutting mat. This enables me to skive easier as there is a lower angle when skiving. This also functions well as a general leather cutter also. For this price I was very impressed. It feels well in the hand and looks pretty cool also. Nice!

Very sharp
The media could not be loaded. The skiving knife is very sharp and comfortable in the hand. It looks well made and would last for quite a while. I was able to cut through several inches of leather with no problems.Be careful when using on a cutting mat as it is very sharp. I mistakenly tried cutting leather on a wood frame and now the frame has a gapping slit in it.I would recommend it and also getting me a spare.

Does the job
The main differences between this & costlier items are the steel & the price. You can pay much more for a high quality tool made from top class steel & you can also pay much more for this same item depending on which vendor you choose. So, unless you do a Lot of leatherwork & are willing to fork out for a top quality Branded tool just go for the cheapest you can find - they’re all the same item. The one I got is perfectly adequate for the small amount of use I’ll put it to. The main difference is because the steel is a little bit softer you’ll need to hone it more often & I don’t find this a problem considering the saving made. It does the job.

It’s getting 5 stars as it has potential!
So, the actual knife is as blunt as it comes. It’s truly terrible.BUT once sharpened and honed it is as good as it’s very expensive contemporaries. So it gets 5 stars as after a little work it is fabulous. Do not expect to use it straight from the box.

Dull as butter knife and not great machining
I bought this expecting it to be quite blunt and with the intent of sharpening it up myself. I'll warn people, blunt would suggest it had some cutting ability and this would have struggled to cut fresh bread. The metal itself also wasn't machined super well which caused issues on sharpening (I had to actually get the edge ground down as it was bowed). I think this is one where you might get lucky and get one that's been machined pretty well and you can just work from there to create an actual sharp edge or you get unlucky like me. That being said, you get what you pay for. Not bad, not good, but able to be decent if you put a bit of work.
