Review from a kettlebeller: So close to great! But slippery.
Summary: The mat is great in terms of thickness and density, but it gets slick when you sweat. It might be ok for you depending on what you're doing. I won't return it, but I'm a little disappointed.Details: I was SO excited about this mat when I opened it. It seemed like exactly what I was hoping for. I quit my expensive (but awesome) kettlebell-focused gym to attempt to do the workouts at home myself. I'm using this mat for kb swings, cleans, snatches, getups, squats, lunges, planks, pushups, and the like. I like to work out barefoot. The mat is thick but not squishy. It reminds me of the rubber flooring at the expensive gym in that regard -- it's good for setting bells down at the end of a set of swings or snatches without having to be dainty about it, even with my 32kg bell. I'm not sure I'd want to drop it, but it's great for normal in-control kettlebell exercises. I don't sink into it and have good solid footing. That is until I get a few sets into the workout...When I start to sweat, I start to slip. The bottom of my feet don't feel securely anchored during barefoot heavy swings, which affects my form. I put socks on, and that solves the problem for heavy swings. For getups, however, my plant hand is slippery. We're not talking ice rink slippery, but enough that I think my form is affected because I feel I can't really lean into it the way I'd like to.On the size: I'm 6' and on my getups I tend to not come down exactly where I went up... I move around a little unintentionally. Because of that on the way down I'd sometimes find my plant hand wanting to come down off of the mat and I'd have to adjust my position. Not the mat's fault, but if you're taller and doing getups, 4' might not be the ideal width. My 5'2" girlfriend has no problem. The 7' length is good for getups and we can both do swings side by side at the same time.I won't return it. It's well made, doesn't scoot around on my smooth wood floor, and is a good size, thickness, and density for my kettlebell workouts. But I wish I felt securely planted even when I start to sweat.

Beware of buying 2 mats
I purchased 2 mats for my work out area downstairs to put next to each other. Unfortunately the mats are different sizes and cut crooked. I tried multiple ways but they do not stay together nicely and move apart further with exercise. I was hoping it was just that they needed to wear in a bit but no luck. Very disappointed in this. When the mats arrived they were very slippery. However after a month or two of use this wears off. They provide enough cushion for most exercises. However for any high impact exercise (like tuck jumps) I still use a separate yoga mat on top. My mats are on tile floor with cement underneath, so very hard to say the least. On a plus the mats have been holding up good, no rips or tears.

What I was looking for
I like the mat and have made a good purchase. The mat is well made and was as described. I was working out on carpet and that was not ideal for the routine.Pros. Significantly improved my balance while doing lunges, Romainian deadlifts with leg lifts etc. the mat is soft , it has minimal shifting (nothing that hinders the workout) and it is large enough for all my cardio and weight lifting needs. The mat is soft for exercises where you are on your hands & knees , or forearm and elbows , or when doing sit ups.i have tried many mats before only to find them too flemsy, small or no cushion. This is the first one that's a keeper.Cons. There are a couple of cardio moves where the soles of my shoes would stick to the mat. Usually it's on an exercise where I'm fatiguing and my leg lift gets inconsistent. I just move to the carpet when that happens.

High Quality Exercise Mat
I did a fair amount of research and wanted a mat that would be both durable and comfortable to use, this hit the mark. The mat was packaged very well, unrolled easily and is the perfect size for floor exercises and Pilates. One improvement I’d suggest is making this size in a thicker/softer foam. The company offers smaller versions with thicker options but not the 7’x4’. It is not a deal breaker, just a personal preference that I would have liked a little more give. As you can see, I have this on a tile floor so all I have is the mat between me and a lot of pain. The mat does not shift, does not smell like others have noted, has the right balance of grip and comfort and does its job. If you are in the market this is a great choice. A word of caution, if you are moving a lot / during more than lifting on a mat do not make the mistake and buy the ‘puzzle’ mats ... they just don’t hold together. Short of the really high end Karate and grappling mats they just don’t stay together. Invest the extra money in a mat sized for your needs.Hope this was helpful?

Excellent Product
I originally planned to wait after a few weeks of using this mat before giving a review but there is no need to wait. Yesterday I was able to break a personal record for jump rope double-unders! This mat is relative thin, does not slip (laying on hardwood floor), provides good bounce while minimizing the stress on my foot and ankles. I did not expect to perform this well. Thank you for making rope skipping enjoyable again. I thought after 3 decades of skipping, my older joints wouldn't allow me to enjoy this activity again but this mat made all the difference. I will say as a minor complaint that the rolled up mat is heavy and hard to fold but if you have the luxury of keeping this mat in one place, that is a non-issue. Oh and one more thing; I feel significantly less fatigue and strain after skipping on this mat with no changes in my routine except for using this matt. Excellent product!!

Nice addition to home gym!
I do Insanity/T25, and this mat has helped to save my knees and hips. I exercise barefooted, and this has good absorption and cushioning. I can even double, if necessary. The only thing I’d change is having a thicker mat. One could be available but I didn’t think to check. It’s also easy to fold and store. That’s important to me because I have cats that mark anything they want to claim as theirs. I wish I’d thought to get this type of mat sooner. There was a $10 coupon, so I bought the larger size. Well worth the investment.
