The paperback version is NOT the text book! It is merely a study guide, though it was referred to as a tech manual. Reviews from those saying otherwise obviously bought the actual hardcover edition and had no clue to what they were talking about for those of us who thought 'tech manual' was literal. Look closely at the very top (you have to enlarge the image to see it). The Headline description Amazon uses is misleading. It is NOT a Tech Manual-it is merely a study outline-big difference!As far as the textbook goes, Duffy authors a lot of different manual type text books and this particular one is kind of weak. For example, if there are two different names for a particular item, he notes this which is great, but later in the text he will not only alternate between using the two, but he will then use a third, derivative nomenclature which can be very confusing for students trying to follow what he is trying to explain, who then must flip back and forth to make sure that he is still talking about the same thing. This is a waste of time and effort, and makes this muddy that should be clear.This is NOT a text book that one can use to actually do most of the techniques that are described, it is merely an overview, not a true "how to" manual by any stretch of the imagination

I am a collision technician of 30 plus years. I am now a vocational teacher passing on my trade. This is the book I teach from and develop lesson plans with. If you want a book that will show you in simple terms how to work on your car or better yourself as a technician, buy this book. It is virtually the same as the 2016 version that cost over $200.00 in the bookstore at school. Buy this one, much cheaper. I bought a used one for $13.00 and it looked like it had never been opened. Highly recommend.

I bought this book for my brother who loves to tinker with cars. He really enjoyed the book. But get the hard-cover version and NOT the paper-back one. The paper-back is just a review. (Why they are different I have no idea.) I would also suggest getting it from 2nd hand dealers to get a better price. The one I bought was almost like new and it went for a fraction of the cost I could have paid.

Im currently in school for Automotive Collision Repair and this is our assigned textbook. Im out of state, not working and my only income for school supplies is my sister and my mother who tries to send me money here and there. The price for the book in the school bookstore was around $250, including the paperback workbook. Toooo steep for me! After tax time I got a hold of some money and went searching for the cheapest option. Came to Amazon and found this one for a WAY cheaper price and the got the workbook here also. Those together were ALOT cheaper than the bookstore. Items came at a pretty decent time and everythings in great shape. Saved me a buttload and im back on track in class. Thanks!

We hardly used this in class, but unlike most other textbooks I've used for college it was very simple, yet informative.

As far as school text books go, this one is not bad. I would not have picked this as instructional reading material, but glad the school did.

I am a certified mechanic studying for the ASE collision repair and refinishing tests B2 through B6 and have found this book to be full of good information. I have read through some of the Motor Age  B3 Non-Structural Analysis & Damage Repair: The Motor Age Training Self-Study Guide for ASE Certification  study guides and have found them to be severely lacking in detail. This book gives a complete overview of all areas of collision repair and would be a great addition to your library.

Book arrived extremely quickly and in excellent condition. Book is very informative, detailed with many modules and illustrations. It contains everything you need to know about the auto body field. This 5th edition is being used as the main text book for local auto collision trades program at a fraction of campus bookstore cost

I'm experienced Autobodyman, but still I need this book for my written exam, when I started to read this book I learned more, and big help for my upcoming exam.

This book really doesn't offer anything accept 300 pages of questions without answers, it doesn't give any explanations and won't help you in any way...save your $100 bucks cause this is BS.

When they put Student Technician's Manual in the title, they maybe should have added that it was best suited for apprentices and not the already qualified who just wanted a reference book for the shelves for staff to have easy access to.It is a good book for the learners but not ideal as a reference book.
