I miss fig newtons - now I have something better
Years ago before I was gluten intolerant, I used to pound whole sleeves of Fig Newtons but alas, those days are passed. For awhile, I'd been searching for something to replace my beloved cake and jam cookie and lo and behold, Pamela's Figgies and Jammies enters my life. These are some darn good figgy treats and I buy them on a recurring monthly basis. Not super stoked about the seemingly rapid price increases but I'll kill my subscription when it becomes too pricey and find a cheaper alternative, but for now they're solid!

good
These are not fig newtons. Nothing is a fig newton other than fig newtons. Everything else is just a substitute. the question becomes are the GF cookies tasty? satisfying? worth the extra money you pay for being GF. and I say yes. Even my He Who Can Eat Fig newtons likes them.

A favorite gluten free snack!
With two of us in the house Gluten Free, it is always nice to find convenience foods that are not horrible (in the many, many possible ways). These are a favorite at our house! Are they like those so-sweet "Fig Bars" in the yellow package from the grocery store? No. No, they are not. Sorry - I miss them, too.But these are really very tasty, if you will just allow them to be what they are in their own right. The cookie/cake layer is not too dry and crumbly, as is so often the case with gluten free, so they are not horribly messy to eat. Each bar/cookie is a bit on the large side, for my preference, but that's down to the REALLY nit-picking level. And hey, with gluten free snacks, we just don't need to go there...

Great! Doesn’t taste gluten-free
I have to keep these stocked in the pantry 24/7 for my husband. These are a staple for him. He’s not even a gluten-free person, but he absolutely loves these. They don’t even taste gluten-free! As a side note, I love them too, but I can’t eat them, because if I eat one, I’ll eat the whole bag! Not overly sweet, and nice texture.

Hard, dry, and old
The Best Buy date on these is April, 2021. Eating them in January and February 2021, the cake part was rock hard on most of them and pretty hard on the rest. I tried cutting off some of the cake, but the blueberry flavor was still not the best. Perhaps these would be good if they were fresh, but I won't try the blueberry flavor again.

Pretty darn close to Newtons
I bought these cookies for my husband since he’s on a gluten free diet. He had missed Fig Newtons terribly. He tried these figgies and said they’re very close to the flavor and texture of his most favorite cookie. So, I’ll be ordering more in the future.

These are the best Gluten Free non chocolate cookies!!!
The cake outside is moist the the filling has a nice tart and sweet balance between the figs and the raspberry flavors. The stores around me don't carry these so I just buy online. Even if your not gluten free these cookies are delicious and have a great taste. have eaten many packages :). There are 10 cookies in a 9 oz package and they are 100 calories a cookie.

Better than the original
I have always loved fig newtons and it was sad to give them up when I went gluten free. Pamela's changed all that. These are not only gluten free, they are even better than the mainstream brand. The newtons are bigger, about the size of two of the old size. So een though there are only 10 cookies per pack, it's roughly the equivalent of 20 of the others. The consistency of the cookie is spot on but what really sets these apart is the fig filling. Delish!
