What's up with the comments about this not being the classic one when delivered?

It is similar to the SNS my boys had in the mid-1970s. I bought the 2014 version for my grandson (now 16 months old) last year for Christmas. I then bought him the Classic/Vintage (looking) SNS a few months later. He enjoyed the new version much more 6 months ago. Now that his is older : ) he likes listening to them played side by side. I honestly don't remember the man's voice imitating sounds when my guys were toddlers, but that was 40 years ago. Truth be told I think I bought the Vintage more for myself because I like the newer version much better (and the string is by far much easier for those tiny precious hands and muscles to pull!). Does it require batteries as in the description? The classic version was mechanical with a record inside.

It does have a battery compartment for 2 double A batteries.
