It is powered by batteries. The lock needs 4 AA batteries. When the power runs low (battery voltage < 4.6V), after a user opens the lock, a red light will blink and an alarm will ring, to remind you to change the batteries. A new set of batteries can last for 8~12 months, dependent on how frequently you use the lock. If power completely runs out before you notice, you could still temporarily use a power bank to charge the system.
