Great in theory; didn't work as expected in my house.
I really hate to give this only 3 stars, as I'm sure it's worked for a number of cats. In theory, this is actually a great product. I'm giving it three stars mainly for how ineffective it was for my particular needs. My kitten finally learned how to jump up on the kitchen counter. I'm very blase in terms of where they are allowed to go, but the kitchen counter is the only place from which they are strictly off limits. My older boy never bothered trying to jump up there so this is the first time I'm having to deal with a cat having access to an area they're not allowed to be. I bought the x-large sticky pads (9x12) and cut them in half, placing them all along the edges of the kitchen countertop. Eventually, my kitten did jump up there. But, instead of feeling the sticky and immediately jumping down, she continued to try and walk on the sticky parts until she got to an unsticky area. She clearly didn't like the sticky, but didn't feel the need to jump down for some reason. She is fine with putting up with the sticky if it means having access to the counter. So, these didn't actually work for me. I ended up taking the sticky pads off and unfortunately, there was residue on my kitchen counter that I had to use oil and stiff sponges to get off. There is probably still some that I haven't been able to get up yet. That brings it down one more star for me.I would like to point out that I saw one reviewer claim the pads were actually white, which isn't true - unless they bought a different product than what I got. There are naturally two sides to protect the adhesive that need to be removed: a brown side and a white side. Anyone of average intelligence should know to remove both sides to get double-sided tape . . .If anyone is curious as to how we plan to stop her behavior without the stickies:1. While I prepare their food, my husband will use a toy to keep her distracted until her food is ready.2. Any treat I feed her in the kitchen will be placed on the floor so she knows not to expect it from jumping (and she does jump for treats).3. I plan to install some wall shelves, or a small cat tree, near the kitchen where she can watch me cook/prepare her food if she pleases. If she decides to get on the counter, I will lead her to her "safe spot" and use the clicker and a treat to let her know that's where she needs to be. [i.e. for every "no" you tell a cat, provide a "yes" as an alternative.]

Not effective against my cat. It's not sticky enough to stay down.

My cat won’t ruin the couch any longer…
… but now she’s on to OTHER furniture. Ugh!! I can’t have everything sticky around my house. Not sure how to proceed

SWEAR by this stuff - 5 sofas, 1 sectional and 4 cats
More comments 8/2/18:I've also used this on an expensive leather chair from WS Home (REAL leather - DO NOT USE on bonded or other processed leather!). Peeling it off to replace b/c of dirt collection was per usual a challenge but the leather surface was not damaged though some sticky crap was left. Leather cleaner/moisturizer would easily remove it. I love these things.FYI, I bought a bench covered in haired hide (like the popular cow skin floor coverings) and the cats do not claw that AT ALL.______________________________________________________New review as of 9/20/17ADDED pic of end of couch pretty much covered with *dirty* X-large Sticky paws (it catches wafting cat hair and other detritus)I always have several of the extra large available. Swear by this stuff. Prevents cats from clawing corners and vertical surfaces on sofas. Directions say not to use out on microfiber but I do and have been doing so for 2 to 3 years. Can be a challenge to remove when "aged" but if I didn't use it, my sofas would be thrashed (5 sofas, one sectional and 4 cats).____________________________________________________________________Works well if you get the item you ordered! I just had an AMAZON PRIME vendor substitute the strips for the extra large sheets (with no price adjustment too!). I ordered the sheets for a reason - they go AROUND corners & cats LOVE corners.
