Echo Off, Clarity On: A Knight's Tale.
Being a Harley mama in the midst of little 'monsters' and my ex-circus performer hubby, I often crave some peace, even while riding. That's where the Dekoni Audio High-Fidelity Earplugs swooped in like a cool, less-revealing superhero, offering me some respite from my chaotic symphony (literally!)From spoken words to those barely audible sighs of my roaring beast (the motorcycle folks, not the hubster), the Dekoni plugs turned down the volume, but didn't compromise on the clarity. But, and there's always a 'but' with superheroes, right? These Earplugs, despite their charm, didn't quite match the soothing comfort of my beloved Eargasm earplugs. Tough competition, eh?On the brighter side, they gracefully nudged out my past earplugs that fought an epic, losing battle with gravity. Plus, the memory foam deserves an honorable mention, hugging the contours of my ears like a snug biker jacket. No more discomfort, and definitely no more hopping off the bike to retrieve a fallen plug! So, Dekoni came, they plugged, they conquered...somewhat. They may not be the cavaliers my ears dreamt of, but they fought a good battle. Not the knight in shining armor, but a solid knight nonetheless.

Impressive quality. Appreciate the cylindrical storage/travel case.
This is an upgrade from ordinary foam ear plugs. The stiffer core enhances the muting of noise levels, without totally blocking auditory input. In simpler terms, you can still understand a person talking to you.I found that these ear plugs are noticeably better than all foam earplugs. The design allows it to adapt to an ear structure, creating an able noise reduction barrier. I also found that the ear plugs do not fall out as easily as ordinary plugs.I like the included storage/travel cylinder. It even comes with a carabiner so you can attach the container to a bag strap. I've often lost one or a pair of earplugs. With the case, you have a better chance of keeping track of these ear plugs. These ear plugs would be greatly appreciated by users of power tools, musicians (and concert goers) and people that have construction happening nearby (personal experience attests to this issue). I feel the ear plugs delivers on the claims, with quality materials and design. It quietly attains a 4.5+ star rating, with a positive recommendation.

Comfortable, reusable, but short lifespan
I have a variety of different styles of ear plugs for different purposes that I use at concerts and while using power equipment (saws, drills, grinders, etc.). I have disposable solid foam ones and rubber or plastic ones of various styles. I've found that I prefer ear plugs that aren't solid foam, that I don't have to pinch and roll between my fingers before inserting them in my ear. That style tends to pop out on its own, and I don't like handling them if I have dirty hands before putting them in my ear. Though these ear plugs have some foam, they aren't solid foam, and I don't have to squeeze them before putting them in. It's just a ring of very soft foam, and I can easily insert them into my ears without squishing them first. There's a small plastic tab that sticks out that's easy to grab and pull the plugs out of my my ears too. There's an included string that at first I assumed is to tie onto the nub on top of the cap of the storage case (there's a hole in the nub), but the string is actually for the ear plugs. Each end of the string attaches to an ear plug, so you can take the plugs out of your ears and have them rest around your neck, such as if you're taking a break from work. I find this to be really handy, so if I want to put ear plugs in and take them out while I'm doing something, I don't have to put them in my pocket and get them dirty/dusty, and I don't have to fiddle with a storage case. These are fairly discrete if that's something you're concerned about, and they do a fine job of reducing sound level. I find them to be very comfortable too, which is a function of the soft foam tips.So far these are the downsides I see:1) The instructions say there's a 15 decibel reduction, but they also say elsewhere there's a 20 decibel reduction, so you don't really know what you're getting. It's a big detractor for me when the package labeling and/or instructions say different things.2) It is a common to have to squeeze foam tips before you put them in your ears, but you don't have to do that with these. Though if you do squeeze them out of habit or you just assume that's what you're supposed to do, then the foam rebounds very slowly (like several minutes), especially if you roll the tips in your fingers. Then the plugs won't stay in your ear very well for a while until the foam rebounds.3) The soft memory foam has a short lifespan. The product description says "They are expected to last approximately 3-6 weeks depending on usage." I've found that these type of foam rings do wear out, stretch, tear fairly quickly. I have ear plugs that are a rubber core with rubber fins around them that have lasted for several years wearing them 1-2 times a week and taking out and putting them back in several times each time I wear them. Though those are a little less comfortable over a couple/few hours.

Work as advertised
These aren't my favorite earplugs, but they do cut the sound considerably, which, for a drummer, is a good thing. For playing in a band, you need to still be able to hear yourself and others, and these do a nice job of cutting out the majority of the harsh loudness, while still hearing all the different voices. The foam pads will last a few weeks, and you'll probably be comfortable with at least two of the sizes, so figure you're getting a couple of months use, and then they'll be garbage. In which case, it doesn't make much sense to include a metal carrying case, does it? I guess you can use it for other ear plugs, but all those metal accessories for what is basically a disposable pair of ear plugs is wasteful, in my opinion, and leaving them out would probably drastically drop the price. Decent plugs, but not really worth the money for the lifespan, I think.
