I would wash them in warm soapy water in the sink, but I think they would melt in the dishwasher.

Are they solid or hallow & do they have holes where water can get in from washing?

These are pretty solid material quality and bright colors. I bought them a month back for my daughter. There are no holes in it. You can wash it without any worries with water and liquid soap too.
