Q: Is the product breathable? what about condensation? how does this compare to the s.o.l. escape bivvy?

If you’re using one of these, ya ain’t sweatin. They’re made out of non breathable mylar that reflects body heat back at your body. They’re for emergency use only, in cold climates only. If you put your head inside the flap at night to keep your head warm and to retain the heat, you’ll have condensation in the morning, but at least your body won’t be dead. If you’re worried about condensation in an emergency situation then keep your mouth out of the bag. These are not death traps and could be used for a bunch of different things if you also happened to have a normal bag with you when you got trapped in the woods in freezing weather. In that situation, condensation doesn’t matter, surviving the night does. That being said, most people will never in a million years be in that situation, but we all think we’re survivalists these days so I guess they sell a bunch of these.

Q: Can you only use it once since its for emergency only? if not, how many times can it be used?

Do not use this in an emergency, you will die. It will trap all of your body's moisture, which in the cold is a death sentence

Q: Can it be used as a footprint under my tent?

No, not a good tent footprint because it is a bivy sack, similar to a sleeping bag configuration, closed on 3 sides. A tarp would work better for a tent footprint

This might help you die in the woods

These Mylar reflective bags are absolute last gasp ditch efforts. They only reflect heat, they don’t stop the heat transmitting away from you into the ground.They also don’t breath, so the chances of you becoming wet with condensation are incredibly high.If you are wet, you transmit heat away from your body faster.These things really need to be short term emergency items, and I’d hopefully not fall asleep in one.Be very, very careful using these.
