Screen Repair Made Easy
After the digitizer on my Nexus 7 broke, I started checking my options for fixing it myself. The first and cheapest option would have been to try to separate the broken digitizer from the LCD and replace the digitizer. After some research I had read enough warnings that said that to attempt this would be a waste of time because apparently it is nearly impossible to remove the digitizer without ruining the LCD. My second option would have been to purchase a digitizer with a new LCD, this was a bit more expensive, but apparently it was actually doable with a bit of patience and the right tools. While researching this option, I came across several people that said that it would be well worth the effort saved to pay a little more money and buy a digitizer and LCD with the bezel already attached. I was mainly concerned with replacing my display with minimal trouble and fuss, and since I didn't have any money invested in the tablet (it was a gift) I decided to purchase the digitizer/LCD/bezel combination.I received the box in a timely manner and everything was well-packaged, and all of the tools pictured in the description were included. After watching some YouTube videos describing the take-down of the Nexus, I went at it myself. Since it was the first time taking this thing apart, I went at it slowly to try to make sure that I didn't ruin anything. I would estimate that the entire replacement process probably took me around 45 minutes, though I am sure you could do it in 5-10 minutes if you knew what you were doing. Everything fit perfectly into the new bezel with the exception of the bottom speaker, which I had to shave down slightly with a knife to get to fit correctly. Because of the accuracy of everything else I decided to not deduct stars for that small issue. The screws all fit perfectly, and the cover snapped on nicely, and everything worked exactly as it should. I did scuff the cover a little bit when I was prying it off, so you can tell that it was opened. The LCD and touchscreen now work perfectly, and I cannot tell that there is a difference between this one and the old one.So, all things considered, if you are trying to fix a tablet as cheaply as possible and you don't mind putting a lot of time and effort into a repair job, there are probably other options out there that will suit you better, but if you are like me and want to fix you tablet simply and reliably without needing to pull your hair out in the process, this is definitely the way to go.

I did it!
I dropped my Nexus 7 and called around for repair estimates. They were all over $100. I watched a couple videos and decided I might try it myself. This kit has the screen already in the frame, which eliminates the most precarious part of placing a thin glass screen. It took me about an hour, being extremely careful and following along on a chromecast YouTube instruction. I am typing this review on my repaired tablet! The screen may not be 100% as bright as it was, but I don't have an OEM to compare. It would be a tiny difference if any.The main detractions are 1) the TINY pics in the instructions and 2) the kit does not include the power and volume strip assembly; these are glued down on the frame so reusing the old one is OK but not ideal. You can get one cheap, but since I didn't realize until reassembly, I scraped mine off the old frame an reused it.Overall, this saved me not only $, but also handing over access to my data which is a big reason why I was uncomfortable taking it in to a shop. It was really cool to do it myself!

Small fitment issues, otherwise great
As some of the other reviews point out, there are some small fitment issues with this screen. When going back together, there is a small gap around three of the corners inbetween the frame and the back case. It is tight, so it wont fall off, but it is visually unappealing. Other than that, the screen works perfectly. It is not an oem part, but aside from the small gap, I cant tell. The picture quality is perfect, and the multitouch registers all 10 fingers fine. At around 50 dollars, it is definately worth it. The parts that came with it were all that I needed, and the instructions were spot on(even if they are copied word for word from ifixit.com).

Digitzer doesn't work in many spots
Changing my review from 4 to 1. Digitizer does not work in many spots making it impossible to use tablet. Instructions were missing details on moving the power and volume button strip from the old screen to the new one as the new one did not include them.

A decent substitute
First and foremost, the most serious problem is that the frame is wrong. The screw holes don't line up, nothing sits quite right (One of the metal tabs of the battery tray bends at the side when you try to screw it in), some of the cables are more difficult to position correctly, and the back plate doesn't come close to fitting on it. It seems as if they designed it based on measurements of an OEM frame, but didn't have the correct tools to do the job. Every alignment is off by maybe a millimeter, but that's enough to throw everything off.Second, it lacks the button strip that's affixed to the original frame. You have to move the strip from your original, and that's a process that's delicate. The measurement errors show up here as well, with the cable being stretched a too tight if the strip is in the correct position, and the strip bending slightly between the back case and the frame if you position it so the cable reaches. The post for aligning the strip does not exist.Third, the LCD isn't as good as an OEM screen. This is to be expected, but I'll go over my observations for people interested: The display does seem to be the correct resolution and I'm not noticing any problems with fade time, but the color representation is not comparable to an OEM screen.Fourth, and this is more of an aside: The included tools are perfectly adequate. This repair can easily be done with these tools. The included instructions, on the other hand, leave a bit to be desired. The instructions are missing a few steps, and the pictures aren't all that helpful. However, they don't lose points here because they didn't actually need to include instructions in the first place and there's an excellent iFixIt guide.Overall: It's an acceptable replacement for a damaged panel.

Gave my old tablet a second lease of life
After cracking my screen I ordered this, not really expecting it to work very well, but if you follow the instructions (getting the case open and removing the battery connector were the tricky steps) it works really well and is as good as new.

Not the part I was looking for.
The item supplied was almost (but not quite) a replacement for a 2nd-Gen Nexus 7. Some of the screw holes were misaligned and thus the circuit boards would not fit, speaker assembly cannot fit, etc.Still awaiting refund more than 2 weeks after first contacting seller.

Great product except the extra section on the frame which stopped the rear from fitting properly. I managed to remove it with sturdy snips and all is now working great.
