Save your money and black your tail lights yourself.
This product works as advertised. I used only half a can on my lights and I did about 3 coats and it made them super dark to match the trim. You can still see the light through the trim. As a hint, make sure you wait until the Black Out spray has been bonded to the surface for about a day or so before you add the acrylic, otherwise the sheen will not look be as shiny and you have to wait a standard week (7 days) for it to harden before you apply another coat.

Works!!
I was contemplating spending 60 dollars to replace my tail lights, just to have them black. Then i came across VHT Nite Shades. I thought it was too good to be true, but took the risk anyway. I am VERY happy with the way my lights look!Note: If you buy these, and you don't want to completely black them out, you will need to spray an even coat, which is difficult if you are inexperienced. Otherwise, if you'd like them to be completely black, it's cheap and simple! I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants their car to look good and on a low budget. 5 stars!!!! WILL BUY AGAIN !!!

This stuff is awesome
I just blacked out my taillights with VHT Nite Shades and they turned out whey better than I expected. I did it real lazily and didn't prepare much and they look awesome. The only other thing you need to buy is 2000 grit sand paper to get rid of that "orange peel" texture when you are done and possibly auto wax if you do not already own it. I masked off my backup lights with notebook paper and painter's tape. After a few pretty thick layers of Nite Shades and about 4 good layers of clearcoat these lights look one-thousand fold better. There are some good videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it well.

if you can handle a spray can and instructions
Make sure you spray this about a foot away from the lights, and very very THIN coats, let them dry in between coats, and it works perfectly. Not meant to hide cracks or dents in the plastic.Polishing the lights first is def recommended to be sure the surface being applied on is clean and clear of imperfections. Not great for headlights, road chips and bugs will beat this stuff up fast.

Very little light shows through - ticket inducer
Basically this product, when applied correctly, still hardly shows light through your tail light/head light. Obviously if you are driving during the day with sunlight on your tail lights, and you have your running lights on or apply your brakes, you want to be able to see the red light. This product makes this light very dull. You are likely to receive a ticket if a police vehicle sees your dull lights. Also, if you get rear ended, this "tint" will be enough needed causation to have the accident be your fault even if your at a complete stop. Take it from someone who has used it (and removed it), it might look 'cool' at first, but lets be honest, it looks cheap. Go with a clean look for your vehicle and stick to the OEM red. Using these are just asking for trouble.

Awesome
Ordered this to do the tail lights on my sons 2004 SVT Lightning pickup truck. We took the original lights off and put them in boxes in order to be able to return the truck to stock if we ever need to. Ordered up some of the Depo brand "heritage" red tail lights from Amazon. Crazy deal. Got the drivers side for $35 and pass. side for $6. That's right, not a typo, $6. Due to the fact it was listed as used. Anyways, we took the two new tail lights and went at it with 1000 grit sandpaper and water to get the raised lettering down. Then 2000 grit and water to get scuff up the entire lens. Sand till all cloudy and smooth. Wiped down with a small amount of brake clean just to get the dust off. Sprayed three coats of the VHT on, five minutes between coats. 2 coats seemed too light. Let dry for 2 hrs. sprayed 5 coats of the clear with 5 minutes between coats. Let dry for 24 hrs. use the 2000 grit and water to sand out all the orange peel and sand with lots of water till smooth and cloudy white finish again. Now for the magic. Use a plastic polish (i used this one) Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner and Polish -10 oz. on a power drill with a foam pad.The result was so amazing, i have people asking me where i got them done. I have actually done two sets for friends and charged half the $100 they were being quoted at a customizing shop.Remember, preparation and patience are key.
