Superb rack - no scratching of bikes!
I LOVE this rack! I have been using a hanging rack for the past 30 years but when we purchased ebikes, one of them a step through, it would no longer support their weight to my satisfaction. So we purchased another high end rack that used a lock down bar that came across the top rail of the bike. Since one of our ebikes was a step through, we had to get an adapter bar so that the "other" new rack would hold down the bike. Unfortunately that caused the adapter bar to push down on the bike during transit and all the bouncing and shaking that naturally occurs while a bike is on a rack scratched a lot of paint off of the bike. So, we returned that rack and looked for one that would not touch painted surfaces to hold the bikes down. We found this Transfer V2 rack that is RV rated, and since that is how we often carry our bikes (with a receiver frame mounted on the rear of our travel trailer) we wanted to try it out. Well, we love it! This rack locks down on the front tire with a large u-hook that has a thick and wide rubber face on it. The bikes are 100% solidly held in place! We even have a front basket mounted on one of the bikes and it still works! We also love that it folds up when not in use, and it folds down so that I can open the rear window/hatch if needed (not that I have done that, at least not with bikes on it). The foot release for the swing up/down function is easy to use and very sturdy. The fact that it locks into place with a special allen key makes sure that it does not vibrate in the receiver, and it helps prevent theft. We also purchased a hitch receiver locking pin since others can obtain that same security allen key tool, so between the two of them we feel the rack is very secure. The locking cable that comes with it is handy for an extra sense of security, but in reality it is just a cable and so anyone could cut through it in 30 seconds or less with a cordless sawzall. Nonetheless, I do not feel quite so nervous about leaving the bikes on the back of the car for 30 seconds when I have to run into a gas station for a drink. Any longer, though, we add our Kryptonite chains to the bikes and then remove them when we come back out, such as when we go into a restaurant or coffee shop. The cable is also very well coated with soft rubber, so I feel that I can leave it on the bikes even while traveling, which you can't do with chains or even the heavy, thick cables that I also have used. Overall a great rack! Very, very solid. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble. I could have been quicker if I had read the directions through completely and then started assembly as I did try to just skim through some sections, resulting in a bit of "rework".

Solid easy to use carrier
I’m glad we spent the extra money. This carrier is solid and hold the bike very well. They don’t move during transport and the anti-rattle built into the hitch works perfectly. There is really nothing to rub against your bike frames. The tilt mechanism is easy to use and works for storage, carrying, and tilt away to access the back of our van. I really appreciate the integrated bike locking cable. It laces through the bikes and locks directly into the carrier frame. Easy to use. Top quality construction and components. Nice quality of life features. Doesn’t move when installed correctly.

Very Easy to Use
Our local bike shop owner recommended this rack. We ran into trouble putting it together and thought we received the wrong bolts. We reached out to the shipper who contacted Kuat on our behalf. Kuat asked us to call them directly. Kuat customer service was very helpful and explained what we needed to do. Ultimately we had all the correct pieces and it was user error. Once we figured things out, the rack assembly was about 2 hours. So far it is very sturdy, very easy to install, and remove, and very easy to load bikes. Well worth the investment and must easier/faster than using a tailgate cover.

Perfect for eBikes.
Definitely a quality product. Easy to assemble. Well-made - no cheap parts here. Easy to get access to the rear door of our SUV. The only thing I am not real happy with is the way it connects to the hitch on the vehicle. It does not get bolted on where it would be rigid. Instead it just has an unthreaded strong metal peg and goes thru the hitch and then you attach a cotter pin to keep it from falling out. As a result, there is a fair amount of play - at least when you stand behind it and shake the bike some. When driving I have never seen any movement in the rear view mirror. I just don't understand why it is not secured by a bolt that is screwed in. If not for that one factor it would surely get a 5-star rating from me!

Less expensive, still solid.
This is the best bike rack I've ever owned or used. It holds my huge, heavy e-mountain bike very steady while 4 wheeling over rough terrain. Quite a bit of plastic, but well engineered to be strategic and not very heavy for as solid as it is. Easy to get bike on and off, love the tilt-down to open the back hatch while bikes are still attached... very handy!

TOP-NOTCH PRODUCT -- WE. LOVE! THIS. RACK!!!
Did weeks of research and decided on this one and so glad we did. Assembly instructions were excellent and it came with all the tools needed to put it together. Both well engineered and manufactured. Much thought went into the design, not just in use but assembly, as well. Manufactured with care; everything fit together beautifully. Not one problem. This was a huge upgrade from the cheap hanging rack we bought at a major discount tool chain so our first time out w/ the Kuat was super sweet. Lift bike 1 onto rack, strap back tire, hook front tire (used the velcro strap for added security but really didn't need it) - same for bike 2 - run the cable through both and we were set to go. Took all of 6 mins! While driving the bikes were stable thru turns and potholes. The step in configuration for placing the first bike on the rack makes it so much easier for us (we're both short (5'0" & 5'6") and in our mid-60s) so there's no reaching over the outer rack edge to place bike 1. Rack's about 30# and that, too, makes it so much easier for us. So far, excellent experience. Doubt there's a better bike rack out there and like I mentioned at the start of this review ... we really did spend weeks perusing what's out there. Buy it. You'll enjoy using it.

Well Designed, Easy to Use
I am totally pleased with this hitch rack. While it is a bit of a challenge to assemble (2-3hrs for me), it is well worth the investment in time and money. Since the purchase 6 mos. ago, we used it on a 2500 mile round trip from NY to FL, and two 500 mile round trips to New England. No problems whatsoever. 1. Assembly: My advise is to watch every YouTube video on assembly that you can find. Then examine every screw that is needed for assembly. Make sure you have a good idea where they belong. (I had to back out a few times). Take your time and follow the directions carefully. Once assembly was completed it was perfect. Parts fit together well, nothing has come loose. 2. The anti rattle cam works, no need for an extra anti rattle device. I don't have a torque wrench, so I tighten by hand, and it works fine. I am careful not to over tighten. 3. Easy to mount and remove on my vehicle (Rav 4). I have the 2" receiver. I bought a locking pin, seemed like a good idea. 4. Bikes are a stable on the road. Very little rocking. Easy easy to mount the bikes once the rack is installed. Takes only a couple of minutes to load or unload the bikes. 5. The rack tips down past horizontal enough when the bikes are mounted so that they clear the tail gate of the Rav 4 when it opens. 6. The rack folds up vertically when bikes are not loaded allowing normal driving. 7. I use the built in lock and wire cord for quick stops, but double it up with heavy duty bike lock for higher long term security. So far the rack is holding up and I expect it to last many seasons, as it appears well constructed. Hope this is helpful.

Very affordable
We shopped around for a rack and this was a very affordable option. It wasn’t too hard to assemble. I read the directions while my husband put it together. I suggest you lay everything out like in the parts section of the manual otherwise all the screws get confusing. Some are pretty similar. It is very sturdy and holds our two mountain bikes safely. You do need to buy the lock for the hitch though.
