Gone...but not quite forgotten
A very enjoyable and fascinating account of the rise and demise of a pretty large grocery chain that few will now remember. Essential reading for the leader of any modern retailer on the perils of failing to respond to changing customer wants. So complete was Sanders dismantling at the hands of post war property men, no internal records have survived. The author, who has a family connection with the business, has done a great job in bringing the story back to life with his original research.

Interesting 20th century history
If life had turned out differently, we could have been going to Sanders Bros for our weekly shopping rather than Tesco's ... a most interesting history of a store chain that has now been all but forgotten and the author has done remarkably well to discover all that he has.I was led to find it as one of the Sanders brothers founded our parish church, and we get a mention!A good history, if a little dry in places, but that's probably due to the scarcity of information available to the author, and he's keeping to the facts rather than letting imagination fill the gaps.Glad to have read it.
