Solid Connection for Everyday Use
Solid Connection for Everyday Use This Amazon Basics Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable turned out to be a simple, reliable fix for connecting my older laptop to a modern HDMI monitor. The 6-foot length is just right—long enough to reach comfortably from my desk setup without creating a tangled mess of excess cable. The plugs feel snug and secure, with no wobbling once connected, and the gold-plated tips give a reassuring sense of durability. In terms of performance, it delivers exactly what it promises: a clean, stable 1080p signal. I tested it with both streaming video and some light gaming, and the image remained sharp with no flickering or signal drops. The build quality is solid for a budget-friendly option, with a flexible but not flimsy jacket that should hold up well to everyday use. A couple of notes to keep in mind: this cable is one-way only (Mini DisplayPort to HDMI), so it won’t work in reverse, and it doesn’t support 4K. If you’re expecting ultra-high-resolution output, you’ll want a different model. But for standard HD setups, it’s more than enough. Bottom line: A dependable, affordable cable that does exactly what it’s supposed to do—ideal for anyone needing a straightforward Mini DisplayPort to HDMI connection at 1080p.

Gets the job done.
This absolutely did the job to connect my computer to my monitor, after the port on my computer stopped working. I would highly recommend it.

Old Mac, New TV—Simple, Cheap, Works
Hooked this up from a 2013 MacBook Pro to a living room HDTV and it just…worked. No dongle juggling, no driver drama—1080p popped up instantly with clean video and synced audio. The 6-foot length reaches a wall-mounted TV without tugging, and the strain relief + gold-plated plugs feel sturdier than the price suggests. What I liked Plug-and-play on older Macs with Mini DisplayPort (DP++) Solid build: foil/braid shielding, snug connector fit Carries both video + audio (where the source supports it) Great value for a single-cable solution Heads-up Unidirectional: mDP → HDMI only (won’t go HDMI → mDP) 1080p max—good for TVs and basic monitors, not for 1440p/4K Compatibility matters: Works with MacBook Air (2010–2017) and MacBook Pro (2010–2015). Newer USB-C/Thunderbolt-only models need a USB-C to HDMI adapter instead. Some older PCs with Mini DP may require enabling audio over DP in settings. Bottom line: If you’ve got an older Mini DisplayPort Mac or PC and just want a reliable, inexpensive way to mirror to an HDMI display at 1080p, this cable is a tidy, no-nonsense win.

Worked fine...
Used this to connect a new NVidia card with an older monitor, that has only DVI and HDMI connections. No problems whatever -- the monitor was recognized by the card and is working fine. The sound -- via the monitor's built-in speakers -- works too (FreeBSD, Xorg).

Does the job the way the job needs to be done
First, a rant: I love sports, but instead of the typical sports most Americans like I go for road cycling (especially European grand tours), World Cup alpine ski racing, and snowboard competitions. Up until a few years ago I could get a lot of what I wanted on regular broadcast stations and basic cable, but these days it just costs too much to get the NBC and NBC's Olympic channel, which provide a fraction of what I want to watch, especially when NBC's coverage consists of highlights with lame commentary that focuses on the most famous American athletes and tons of fluff. So you can imagine how happy I was to discover that a VPN (virtual private network) would convince Eurosport that I live in the UK, so now I can stream everything I could possibly want to my 2009 iMac. I hate having to huddle in front of the mediocre 20" screen to watch streaming video, but a little research revealed that I could get the video over to my TV with this simple cable, and sure enough it works perfectly so I can now watch events in HD. My 2009 iMac is so old that its mini displayport won't transmit audio to the TV no matter what kind of adapter I use, and I don't have external speakers for my computer, but it was easy to run a separate audio cable from the iMac's headphone port to my stereo's auxiliary port. The AmazonBasics cable is very sturdy, but I did manage to break the first cable I bought because at 6 feet it was too short to lie on the floor, making it inevitable that I would eventually trip over it, but I was happy that the displayport plug on the 6 foot cable I bought at first broke off instead of knocking the computer to the floor. Fortunately the 10 foot cable lies on the floor, and now I'm a happy little camper. I have several other AmazonBasics cables which have never given me any trouble, so I'm confident that this is the last cable I'll need for this use.

Very good cable
I’m very proud of my diy desk office space that I made mostly myself for around $60; not only because most of it was free but because I made some of these things myself. The desktop was a free door from Facebook. I stained and applied poly to finish it. The monitor stand is scrap wood that I had on hand. It’s a very simple and useful way to hide my keyboard when I need more space. Anyways — this review is about a cable not my office. The cable works great with the *free* 2011 27” iMac that I upgraded (the graphics card it’s a thing) and the *free* 22” LED monitor that someone didn’t want anymore. The only thing pictured that I paid for is the cable. It plugs into one of the iMac display ports and the other into the hdmi on the monitor. (You can see I made my own stand out of scrap wood) And yes it’s an iMac but I run windows 10. That’s just how I roll. I put in an SSD but didn’t bother installing OSX because I really don’t use it. To conclude, I like this cable because it was reasonably priced and it works. Thank you for letting me talk about my office.
