It's a good gift if you have had lessons. It is not for beginners.However use a weighted club with it so they can practice at home. That's what Tiger does every evening before going to bed according to Hank Haney. Something like a Momentus-the shortest one. Don't spend a lot of money on either of these training aids. Used works just fine. I bought mine used on Amazon- It's like new. It has an adjustable clamp to fit on the grips of the clubs which I assume it should work for mens and womens clubs. Go to your local Golf Course pro and tell him about this item and he should give you a good reliable answer. The Golf Course Pros use this item for student lessons for training purposes. Good luck
