Q: How far can the latch be adjusted horizontal? I have an 1-1/2" between gate post and fence tubing.

The directions show 1/2 to 1-1/2 adjustment.

Q: Does this mount either left or right side open?

I believe it can be mounted for either side to open. Mine is mounted on the inside of the gate on the left side, with the gate hinges on the right side, and my gate swings inward to open onto my pool deck.

Q: Does includes tension hinges?

No. My did not come with tension hinges. I believe those need to be purchased separately.

Q: Looks like the old magnalatch series ii which i need to replace. will this fit the series ii template thus eliminating the need to drill new holes>

This was an easy 1:1 replacement on my Magnalatch series ii. No need for new drill holes. It was a piece of cake!
