As an artist and a comic book/manga lover, I became very interested when was first announced. The book is drawn by Narae Lee and it's very thick but the content itself is easy to read and covers about 3/4 of the original novel. What I loved most about this manga is Narae Lee's artwork. She wonderfully brought Max and the Flock to life in illustrated form and gave a fresh perspective on the stories, adding new expressions that the written words couldn't show. Even if you haven't read the original novels, this volume (and the rest of the series I'm sure) is worth buying just for the artwork. Narae's style seems to fit the shoujo (girly) genre at first, with all the big expressive eyes, sparkles and beautiful hair, but she shows that she can deliver intense action scenes and bloodied faces when needed. For an Original English Language manga, this is beautifully drawn and delightful to read. I plan to collect the rest of the series and hope Narae draws more comics. Review: Great read - Great book!! Loved it

Impressed
I bought this first volume along with 2 other series as a blind buy. I wanted to read a manga with no prior background to it and something totally new for me and I have to say I was really pleased with this purchase. When I got to the end of the volume I wanted to continue reading but had to buy the second volume! I'm expecting it to get here on saturday but this is a manga series I have already recommended to people around me. Good read.

BUCKLE UP YOUR SEATBELTS PEOPLE, THIS RIDE'S GONNA BE...MAXIMUM! Ah! err...no?
If you haven't read James Patterson's stuff before, it doesn't matter. You don't have to have read his Maximum Ride to enjoy this manga series. From beginning to finish the story is fantastic. You'll notice character growth and how Max gets by by being the awesome leader that she is. Angel already see's her as the mother she never hard so that's saying a lot. I really enjoyed this first volume, already order volumes 3-6 and am saving up some cash to get my hands on volume seven.

Great illustration
I chose this for my 11 year old daughter who has trouble finding books she likes to read to fulfill her reading requirements for school.( I had enjoyed the adult version of these stories. )She loves the drawing style of the illustrations, and that it is obviously a quick read. She actually WANTED to read this, which I consider a huge step. Maybe a little hard to follow in places as it doesn't have the longer explanations of situations, but she was able to figure it out.
