Dutch East India Company History.
Always wanted to know about the Dutch East India Company. This book is very detailed of all VOC ships, routes traveled and competition against, mainly English and Portuguese. Suggest to read Batavia's Graveyard by Mike Dash before as this is also part of the history of Australia.

New ships + new weaponry, allowed Dutch trade fulfill activities which, a century before, were carried on, by Venice in Europe.
Excellent monography, presenting the case of how VOC - Dutch Companies for East India - developed its shipping network in FarEast, creating many subsidiaries to operate its core business of trade. Very similar to any modern trading company, with the support of military power, whose technology linked to naval one had become the industrial support to all that trade. The so-mentionned commercial era or commercial capitalism is not only a matter of simple commercial exchanges or barters, but is, overall, a techological advance based on naval power: heavier ships, displacing more tons and military ships, armed with a good crew a powerful guns.I defend this thesis that industrial development of mankind is very close to military developments, since old times.
